You’ll see int he video that over the weekend I put it through a durability test through water, concrete, nails, wood, threw it about 10 feet into an oil tank and capped it all off with a run through a table saw. So it can certainly handle a great deal. TELUS is giving one off these away through their “So you think you’ve had a tough day” contest.
If you want to win one of these your odds just increased. We’ve decided to hold our own contest and you have a chance to win one and see how you can destroy it also. Bloomberg is reporting that Palm is up for sale. According to “three people familiar with the situation” they state Palm is currently working with Goldman Sachs and Qatalyst Partners to find a buyer – rumours are that both HTC and Lenovo are interested in picking them up. Palm came out swinging and rebuilt themselves by launching their new webOS platform and introduced the world to the Palm Pre.
There is no word on what they will sell for, but recently analysts targeted the stock to hit $0.00 and it’s currently around the $5.00 mark. Palm CEO Jon Rubinstein denied the rumours last week and week sales by stating “it may take us a while, but we will work our way through this, and we’re continuing to invest very heavily in engineering on both webOS development and on new product development.” (more…)
The long awaited Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will be launching on Rogers shortly – it’s already being shipped to stores and will be available on the following price plans:
3-year contract: $149.99 (Promotional price)
2-year contract: $449.99
1-year contract: $499.99
No contract: $549.99
This will come in a White and Black version. I got hold of one a couple days ago and have started to play around with Sony Ericsson’s first venture into the Google’s Android platform. The X10 will come with OS 1.6 and there is vague talk about it being upgraded to possibly 2.1 at a later undisclosed date.
Check out the video below as it’s a quick look a the hardware – which I must say is a massive step up in design for Sony Ericsson. A complete shift in the right direction with it’s simplistic elegant design. Remember how much hype the Xperia X1 received for it’s design? The X10 completely blows it away… I actually found with the X1 the keyboard was tight, keys were small and the screen was a bit tiny also. With the X10 ranks up there with all the other popular touchscreen devices. The 4-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen display is a reason to get this (resolution is 480×854). However I found with minimal use it does catch a great deal of fingerprints (but the good news is that it’s scratch resistant).
Rogers will be shipping the X10 with a 16GB microSD card and it can hold up to 32GB. Other key features are the
1GHz Snapdragon processor, 1GB of ROM/512MB of RAM, 3.5mm headset jack, an 8.1 megapixel camera that can do basically anything you want it to do – LED flash, auto-focus, face detection, video capabilities. The X10 has a 1500 mAh battery so it should last you the entire day depending on what you do. Regarding it’s weight, only a 135 grams which is the same as the iPhone. Overall dimensions being 119 x 63 x 13mm.
WIND Mobile officially launched back in December of last year – about 5 months ago now – and we are seeing thier first price drop when it comes to one of their handsets. The HTC Maple was introduced at the ripe no-contract price of $300, but you can get this now for 50 bucks less at $250. Hopefully this means new devices are coming up soon – possibly the long awaited Nokia N900 or the Android-powered HTC Magic?
Remember about a month ago when we let you know about the Limited Edition Team Canada BlackBerry Bold 9700? This was a internal contest by our friends over at Future Shop for their employees and pictures have finally surfaced… actually 8 glorious pics to be admired! The actual Team Canada Bold 9700 was a custom job done by none other than ColorWare. You’ll see that that the Berry proudly shows the Maple Leaf in all it’s glory. What do you think of it?
There’s been many rumours over the past few days about the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 being released on several carriers: Fido, Rogers, Bell, TELUS and Virgin. Specifically regarding the TELUS release we saw that it was currently going through testing but today images have popped up that show the test unit in action. What do you think… will you be picking this up or spending a little bit more money and go for a QWERTY keyboard?
