It’s good to see the mobile carriers helping out for a good cause. TELUS supports Breast Cancer, Koodo helps Food Banks Canada, Rogers is a big supporter in the United Way, Bell with the mental health initiatives and Virgin does their part by helping the homeless with their Virgin Unite and RE*Generation initiative.

November 17th has been declared as “National Youth Homelessness Awareness Day”. Tonight Virgin will be holding a concert with Canadian band Mother Mother at Lee’s Palace. If you can’t attend you can still help out. Virgin has set up the ability to give via text message. All you have to do is text REGEN to 30333 to donate $5… Virgin will match the first 10,000 donations. In addition, Virgin Mobile members can donate $1 via their monthly bill as a new program has been launched today called “RE*Generation Common Cents”.

White iPhone 4 delayed until Spring 2011

This is a bit disappointing. After Apple stating that the white version of the iPhone 4 would be delayed because it’s “more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected”. Rumour has it that it’s the the suppliers are having trouble matching the white home button colour to the white front face plate.

Today Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller stated that “We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone yet again, but we’ve decided to delay its release until this Spring.” Not the end of the world but it would be nice to have another colour.

Mobilicity now launching Calgary “early 2011″

New entrant Mobilicity is busy these days. Launching new devices, setting up shop in other cities and throwing together a bunch of great promotions. There is a good article in Cartt.ca that reveals a couple things. First, the recently added Nexus One actually “sold out in 20 minutes”. Very impressive. Next is regarding one of the upcoming launch cities. Mobilicity will be expanding outside their GTA coverage in November. It’s been confirmed that Ottawa, Edmonton and Vancouver will all be going live within the next few weeks… but what about Calgary? Well, even though it was scheduled to go live before the end of the year, Calgarians will have to wait a few more months as the launch has been pushed back to “early 2011″. We reached out to Mobilicity to see what the reason for the delay was. They stated they’ll “launch when our network is ready, as we are committed to delivering the best possible consumer experience.”
