But it is wel worth a peek if you are looking to get a free phone this season.

The offer is that you can get a free pohone ($0.00) with a 2-year agreement. The phones are Nokia 2760, Nokia 3500, MOTORAZR V3 “Classic” and the MOTORAZR V3. In all honesty these are not the latest edition phones, but if you are looking for a solid device that can do the basics – like make phone calls, take a look at these as the price is right.

Once you choose your $0.00 phone you can choose your monthly plan. Fido has no monthly system access or extra network fees. The monthly plans range from $15 – $70 and are vastly different when it comes to the minutes you recieve.

More here

The LG KEYBO is a texting dream and is available at TELUS and Koodo. This compact devise has a good music player, decent speakers, 2.0 megapixel camera, ability to surf the web and its full QWERTY keyboard is well designed. We played around with this beast for a bit and our initial thoughts are in the video below.

The KEYBO weighs 120 grams, dimensions are 102mm x 54mm x 16.5mm and is available in black and red. The external display (160 x 64 pixels) illuminates your contacts, messaging, history… when your music is playing it shows the album cover, artist, song. The internal display (320 x 240 pixels) is between the speakers and we felt this is somewhat small but certainly does its job. With its QWERTY keypad nicely spaced out it will be easy to use for texting, e-mail, IM and typing in any url for fast action to the web. The 2.0 camera is easy to use via the internal and external display.

This is our first – and very quick – review as we basically just opened up the box and started to record.. so it gives you an insight of how easy the KEYBO is to navigate and use:

It’s available for $49.99 on a 3-year contract, $99.99 on a 2-year and $249.99 on a 1-year. If you want to buy this outright it will cost you $299.99. More info at Telus

Over at Koodo you can get this for $225 outright, or $75 with the Tab. Koodo will also throw in a free Bluettoth headset. More here

Future Shop seems to be going all out to get the BlackBerry crowd on board.

Their newest promo lists the nationwide availability of the Telus BlackBerry Storm 9530 for $249.99 on a 3-year plan. To get you testing this out before you purchase they’ve set up demo days where you can schedule some time and speak with a Telus rep about the features and benefits. For a full list of times across Canada visit this link here.

In addition to the Storm – They have dropped the price of the BlackBerry Bold to $169.99 on a 3-year plan, and the price of the Curve to $0.00. And the kicker of the promo is a little holiday special we like to call a $100 gift card is included in your purchase. Pretty sweet deal for a Bold and Curve.

This is our first video review of the recently launched LG Dare from Telus, now available on a promo for $0.00 on a 3-year plan. This touchscreen device comes loaded with up to 8GB of storage plus a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, video capture, 3G full HTML Web browser. Dimensions are 104×56x13and weighs 107 grams with a 3.0” WQVGA touchscreen display that is 240×400 pixels.

There are other plans available such as: no contract for $349.99, 2-year for $99.99 and 1-year for 299.99.

This device is very cool, but it takes a bit of time to get used to all the features. Although it is easy to navigate your way around, to really get a full flavour of this phone you will need to set aside a few hours. Just like any touchscreen device to date, the keys are sensitive and close together… making us type incorrectly or enter the wrong number for text or phone calls. The call quality (Sending and receiving) is good and we did not experience any challenges or dropped calls.

When I first saw the Nokia E71 I was impressed. I had seen the pictures over the last few months and was eagerly awaiting its arrival into Canada – which certainly had a tough time as it was originally supposed to go to Fido, then Rogers made the brand change and took ownership of the sleek Smartphone.

This year was a good year for Nokia devices, they certainly put our products that target a specific market. They know how to make low end phones work (Nokia 6555), and with gaming they nailed it right on with the Nokia N95 8GB. Now with the Nokia E71you have a sleek device that weighs in at 127 grams and is only a mere 11 mm thin.

If you’re a business person using your Smartphone all day, this is honestly a device you should consider. It can do your e-mail, contacts, calendar, GPS, documents (presentations and worksheets) and has a full QWERTY keyboard with a display of 240×320. You will have no problem getting used to this phone as its easy to use and find your way around to the common applications you need. The steel backing is all metal and yes it does catch a great deal of fingerprints but that is your only issue when it comes to the E71.

In regards to the media functions, I was impressed with the speaker for the music – the sound quality is good and can hold up to 8GB (and comes with 2.5 mm earphones). The device has an impressive 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, autofocus and zoom. For the web – 3G and loads up fast and has no problem surfing with its crisp display. To navigate your way around you will have to use the middle directional pad which could cause a bit of frustration as we’re getting used to scrolling or swiping the screen for faster response times.

For the home screen Nokia created 2 of them – one for business and the other for personal. You can configure each according to your lifestyle. Have your documents, calendar, contacts and web on the business… then go for the media player, web, camera, clock and GPS on your personal side. This is a great option to have if you’re the person who continually checks your phone for new work e-mails. However, the only place I can see myself using something like the “mode shifting” is while I’m away on vacation.

The price point is certainly worth it. I’ve seen it around at several Rogers Plus locations for $49.99 promo on a 3-year contract with a minimum $45 voice and data plan… but other locations are currently selling this for $99.99.
