Default Value Pack Price Increases!

Hooray more price increases from Rogers! Couple changes to mention:

$15 Smartphone Value Pack is now... $20 Smartphone Value Pack and includes Unlimited SMS/MMS instead of 2500/1000. CASH GRAB!!

$15 iPhone Visual Voicemail Value Pack is now... $20 iPhone Visual Voicemail Value Pack. Once again, the text has been increased from 2500 to unlimited, and possibly will facilitate MMS in the near future.

All older VPs will be grandfathered.

limit the $30/ 6GB to Android only, increase iPhone plans just in time for the new one to arrive. Cash Grab is right.

Increasing the text messages sent was probably needed for teenagers (they've gone crazy with the texting) but wasn't needed for everyone else. They should have added the $20 plan as an additional option, and kept the $15 plan around too.

Let's suppose that an average text message is 150 character or 150 Bytes (maybe 200 with overhead) Now suppose your Teen is sending an unbelievable amount of text message a month, say 10 thousand.

10000 *200 byte = 2000000 Bytes or 2000 KB ou 2 MByte.
or 1000$ per MB (at 0.20$/message)

This 2 MB will bring the network down :-)
Your are right, the price increase is totally justified.

I am not sure that every Byte are created equal on a Wireless phone distribution system.
The price per KB is different with the data it contained.
Message text, if probably the most expensive per KB, then voice, then standard Data.

It is a Good think ISP don't think the same way.
