Default "Refreshed" iPhones now available from Fido...

Some interesting news for those looking to pick up an iPhone 3G but don't want to shell out the bucks...

Fido has now begun offering "refreshed" iPhones for sale through the loyalty and retention departments.

Wait... what the heck is a "refreshed" iPhone?? A "refreshed" iPhone is one that was bought and returned within the 15 day return/exchange window. Don't get these confused with refurbished... THEY ARE NOT REFURBISHED. Refurbished iPhones are ones that are rebuilt with parts from Apple and these refreshed phones are not rebuilt at all.

Pricing:
$149 - 8GB on 3-year term
$249 - 16GB on 3-year term

This offer is ONLY available to EXISTING customers who are currently on a price plan dated before November 4, 2008 or a retention/loyalty plan.

To take advantage of this offer, you must go through the loyalty department or retention department.

I'm not sure if there is a minimum voice MSF to take advantage of this offer. I don't remember reading that there was.

Seems like a decent deal right? This is where it goes sour:
"Refreshed" iPhones only receive 6 months of warranty.

Personally, given the volume in which this device has been produced and the many defects I've seen in customers handsets, I'd definitely pay the extra $50 and buy brand new and get the 12 months warranty as well.

Btw I read somewhere that you can actually get an iPhone from Fido, call CS and tell them you want the internet services canceled, which leaves you with an Apple phone and whatever normal plan you've picked from the $15-$70 range. Is that any close to the truth? Sounds a little fishy to me.

Data plans have always been optional at Fido for the iPhone.

Excuse my ignorance then. I've never thought that they can actually give them to ppl unless it is with one of those evil data plans. But I think that is also the general idea people have about the iPhone plans, at least now I can enlighten a few friends You are getting full credits of course!

That's the way to go. I mean if companies want the clients to come back for more, they have to make them feel special (in the good way of course ).
