Default Palm Pre

Hey you all!

Does anybody know if Telus will (eventually) have the new Palm Pre? As far as I know it is a CDMA handset and only Sprint has announced the launch.

All I know about is the Treo Pro.... but would gladly wait for the Pre if it comes out shortly (hopefully)

Thanks!

I saw on the Palm Canada site they are promoting it. http://www.palm.com/ca/
Also, MobileSyrup had a quote from the globe that said they are talking to canadian carriers. Nothing solid though.

Telus will more than likely pick it up with the smartphone direction they are going at this time.

Hey, i doubt that they will be picking it up any time soon, hopefully they can grab it before any new palm pre devices come out. If they don't there would be no point in getting it, because the new device would be tweaked to the max. compared to the first device.

Okay, just my opinion, but i think the Pre is a little ugly. I think the Web OS is AWESOME, but the phone itself was a let down.

Oh, and the Pre is coming mid year to TELUS. March i think is the release for Sprint.

Do you have a confirmation about this? I would sure love that! I work for Telus and I need to change my handset. We might have "The largest selection of smartphones" but are more or less the same. I do love Blackberry but wanted a little change, and I would not touch a Wi Mobile with a 10 foot pole!

THe Web OS seem a good change for the outdated Palm os, unless we get an Android hadset anytime soon!

That would be wicked if the Pre came to Telus... and what is Android anyway?

a new operating system based on linux, at the moment only one phone exists with this system, the G1, but hopefully more will come, I have heard about Motorola planning to use it too.

(I love Wikipedia, explains things a lot better than me )

Motorola is working on it...But HTC seems to be all over Android. The G2 is coming out this year. Looks too similar to the older brother.

I have used a G1. The OS is pretty slick, but the phone itself needs some work. It was like they combined all the things they could from the top phones. The trackball from BB, the Capacitive touch screen from Apple, and they weird QWERTY from NOKIA/Sony Erickson.

The Pre would be cool, and TELUS will definitely be getting some cool phones in the next year....WOOOT HSPA 3.5G network...Oh, did i mention that it will cover 93% of the canadian population? Unlike Rogers that covers about 18% and the rest is EDGE....Bell and TELUS really showed them up.

(also looks like an "Android" discussion has been set up by MobileSyrup under Manufacturers...)

i would also like to hear if theres confirmation about the Palm Pre coming to Telus. It would be amazing if Canadians can get a hold of the Pre early and not wait till the next Pre comes out before we can get it. Kronk86 i kind of agree with you, its not such an appealing device such as HTC devices (my opinion). But OS i would have to say might be a top dog in OS nation.

I personally love the design of the Pre. I especially like how the keyboard slides down into a curve, making it feel much more comfortable against the face when in a call.

No confirmation on the Pre coming to Telus? I think Q2 is jumping the gun a little early for a Telus launch.

If I were Palm, I'd want huge market penetration before the others manufacturers jumped on the Android train. Exclusivity deals are going to end up with fewer units being moved.

all I know so far is that it wont be coming in Q1. As for the Android handsets, as long as the new Palm Web OS is as good as they say it is (and looks) they should not worry about Android (but then Win MO should.... unless 6.5 and 7 improves a lot shortly...)
