Can Wind expand or is speir spectrum LIMITED in zones?

The reason I ask is because I noticed all the big cities like Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal seems to have different new entrants, and quebec only has Videotron.

The reason I'm asking is, CAN THEY also develop a network here or is their spectrum "zoned"?

From what Ive read they have spectrum all over Canada except for in Quebec where they only have a small amount. And that they do plan to make there network nationwide in all urban and rural areas. The only question is when will they do this. It could take quite a long time to expand to all of Canada.

They are continually expanding. They recently added Whistler. It takes time, remember Robelus had decades to build their networks. Give Wind and Mobilicity some time.

They MUST expand out of their Zones... meaning all of Ontario, BC, Alberta, Territories, Maritimes, Saskatoon and Northern Quebec will eventually be covered in 3G.

They're starting in Zones to attract a customer base from large markets...

But WIND or MOBILICITY will never be coming to southern quebec (minus Gatineau)

Public Mobile is in Montreal, but Videotron spent around $500,000,000 hogging the network from the newcomers... All well!

Wind didnt win any AWS spectrum in southern Quebec, I believe they do have some PCS (1900), but as it's incompatible with their handsets, I think they're saving it for later

Actually the new companies could only bid on the reserved AWS spectrum and public went all out on a Ontario-Quebec network ONLY! In an outdated technology (less so than PC's but w/e).

Wind is hoping to bid again but for the 700mhz spectrum. Maybe the government will hold some back again.

Wind has absolutely no capital to expand....period. Even if they get in on the 700 spectrum, they don't have any funding to put up towers.

Umm I doubt that, behind them they have a huge company VimpelCom which has a larger buying power than the big 3 here (http://news.slashdot.org/story/11/03/17/2116210/Russias-VimpelCom-Buys-Wind-Mobile-In-Canada)

So I doubt they will have any trouble building up towers

That is a total cop-out if I have seen one. "You do the research to my claims"

The number of posts I have is irrelevant to you providing a source, and anonymous from public forums is not a source, something like a news report from some sort of publication or an analyst from some financial institution would be appreciated.
So next time you start saying that I shouldn't be disagreeing with you even when I do have proof via the source you should back up you claims.

Too much common sense in this post!!! Well put and done with respect and dignity. Once people understand it is not always their way or the highway, the better place (the net, city, province/territory/state, country etc) this place becomes. We are all entitled to our own opinions and we all have the right voice them as we see fit.

There's a reason they closed 6 stores to open 2.....

if you have capital, you don't drop 6 to get 2. regardless of the income they are bringing in whether it be high or low, they put a bunch of people out of jobs. Now comes the blockbuster fallout.......

the infamous source for Mobilesyrup (tipster!) is not a viable source then, are they? could be one person, could be hundreds. could be 5 people spreading the same bs story to benefit one provider due to their retail sales positions......people are pretty low.

I didn't say i didn't trust the internet, i'm simply saying this is all opinion according to most. i didn't "walk all over" any opinion, i just pointed out that the info is correct for their financial withstanding under Vimplecom overseas, but those funds cannot be brought into canada. look at the CRTC/govt fiasco of garbage that Wind was put through......if they had the funds, why wouldn't they have done something at that point? no, they struggled through it to remain open.

Wind purchased spectrum rights in certain geographic areas during the AWS auction. The areas they got were (to be glib and slightly inaccurate), the entire country minus southern Quebec (aka: the Montrea->Quebec City corridor).

So, yes their spectrum is "LIMITED" in zones, but they have the right to expand country-wide. They (of course) picked the highest population density regions first, and are expanding out from that.
