Rogers adds unlimited text

So for all those text crazy folks out there, Rogers has changed the 2,500 text messages in the $20 value Pack into unlimited text messages. This isn't so big because i doubt that any one has even surpassed the 2,500 but if you have hey hey your luck. But when you think about it maybe people that subscribe to things that send them text msgs might run the 2,500 down replying to everything.

I don't know that I could surpass 2500 if I tried. I think I'd be lucky to hit 500 and I feel like I text too much as it is...

Unlimited has such a nicer ring to it than '2500'.

It technically maxes out at 10,000 messages, but anybody that sends 333 messages a day might need to re-evaluate a few things in their life.

Keep in mind, though, that Instant Messages (e.g: MSN Messenger) are billed as text messages unless you access it through the mobile internet. I can see how you might rack up more text messages than you might think from sending a lot of IMs.

It isn't actually unlimited, they're just marketing it as unlimited because, for all intents and purposes, it is.

Many carriers with "unlimited" data plans do a similar thing. They will have a clause in their contract that says they reserve the right to drastically slow down your connection speeds or even cut you off if you use more than, say, 5 GB. But, since the typical user will rarely go over even 1 GB, they just call it unlimited anyway.

I was on a 10,000 a month value pack for students, and rogers sent me an e-mail saying that their 20$ value pack was now unlimited, and you had to change it. Petra, are you on the inside of rogers, know more than the typical consumer or what, because to me if they say unlimited, and don't put any asterixes out saying otherwise, I am to believe its actually unlimited (for all intensive purposes though, 10,000 might as well be unlimited)

Any time you have a feature on your cellphone service, be it for minutes, messages, data, or anything at all, your usage is deducted from a pre-set amount. You can use the analogy of a bucket. Suppose, for example, that your plan includes 150 weekday minutes, and you use 50 of them. The billing system subtracts those 50 minutes from your "bucket" of available minutes, leaving you with 100 minutes remaining.

Unfortunately, the "buckets" have a maximum capacity of 10,000 (or, in some cases, 10,999). There is no way to make a bucket have truly unlimited capacity, because the computerized billing system does not understand the concept of unlimited transactions; there must always be a maximum number. It's a simple oversight, similar to Y2K. And, unless Rogers has done something to upgrade their billing system and give it a higher maximum number of transactions that I am unaware of, then "unlimited" really means 10,000.

I've never gotten pass that 2500 mark and now i have both the 10k and unlimited VPs and no one to spam lol

I had a cousin who just had a normal Bell cell phone and when she got her bill (she must have had detailed billing) it had to arrive by Xpresspost in a box because it was like 40 pages. She basically is texting all day to her friends.
