Student Plan(s)

I was looking at Bell's and Virgin's student plan... $55 for:

200 Anytime Min
UL Eve and Wkends starting @ 6PM
UL nationwide calling to 10 numbers
UL Texts
1G Data

The only thing holding me back is the current smartphone selection. The Vibrant, IP4 both have issues (correct me if that's been rectified recently) etc. I suspect an IP4-s might be just around the corner, and an IP5 coming this fall.

So my delema is this... I want the plan but not with the current phones... My question is... Are these promotional plans (or similar) offered on a fairly regular basis? I don't want to miss out on them if their not, and might bite the bullet on one of the phones mentioned above.

Any advice?

student plan are great becuase you ge cheap plan on any smartphone.

iPhone issues have been fixed or overblown. Desire Z is a solid alternative to the Samsung. Student plans do pop up every couple of months, mostly at the start of semesters(Sept and Jan), so you can wait if you want. They are a pretty good deal though, I'm glad I got one right before I stopped being a student.

Being a student or not, doesn't seem to really matter. I was in a Bell store looking at their phones and struck up a conversation with the sales rep about adding my favorite 10 and if that was possible. He advised me that it is not a stand alone addon but is included in the student plan right now. I laughed and said I have been a student in almost 30 years. His response, were all students of life, and he would have no problem putting my on the student plan?

I'm not saying it is right, just that many are willing to put people on the plan student, no questions asked. I have no idea it this checked later or not?

I'm with Telus and my daughter had to show her student Id to get the student plan with them.
