Wow Mts is sure behind the times with there hardware. I laugh at guys at work waiting for a Bold or Storm or really anything cool. The storm is supposed to get with MTS but I bet it hits rogers first.

Is MTS even that popular where you live. Do they even have a chance after the entrants arrive in the market?

considering how MTS has basically locked out Bell and Telus from using all the features of their network-i think MTS will be around for awhile as they are the only CDMA choice in manitoba.

I think they'll always be around but anyone interested in phones and better features and such will likely go to Rogers. Rogers has poor coverage in Manitoba especially north of Winnipeg and Brandon so they pretty much rule the north.

a) There are no new entrants here.
b) Those planning to enter Manitoba will likely be using the coming MTS/Rogers HSPA network anyway.
c) That includes Telus, *IF* Telus returns, having essentially pulled out of Manitoba. They've apparently given up on plans to build a few towers outside of Winnipeg.
d) Anyone who signs up for service with a new entrant - one that uses the new MTS/Rogers HSPA network - might not get data service. MTS cut off data to Telus users on their CDMA network a couple years ago. (Those who had just signed a three-year plan on a smartphone suddenly lost their web and email capability. Telus did not let them out of thier contracts.) There's no reason to believe that it won't happen again on the new network.

I talked to a Telus retention rep this week, essentially saying: you have nothing that Manitobans want. I will be leaving. And the rep just said, almost word for word, "I know. Thanks for your business. Is there anything else we can help you with today?"
Complete resignation. No attempt to argue me out of leaving.

That was my experience, earlier this year.
Granted, I was living near Steinback. My Telus phone was essentially a brick with a payment plan for most of my contract.

God I effin hate MTS. Increasing fees where other carriers are eliminating them cuz they're bull**** (911 fee) and claiming to do it to be more competitive.. I'm no business major, but is that not THE OPPOSITE thing you would want to do to be more competitive ??!?! And then just making an *** out of any customer that actually pays $179 on a 3-year for a phone that's well over a year old (Motorola Milestone..) when Rogers is offering the most in-demand phone on the market (iPhone4) for $159 on a 3-year..
Whoever is calling the shots at MTS is a complete effin moron as far as I'm concerned..

I've been trying to be patient waiting for MTS to get their HSPA network up and running and have been waiting on new phone selections, but this is getting pretty ridiculous. Everyone I talk to says "don't go with Rogers cuz their customer support sucks" but I gotta think it's worth the price you pay.

no kidding, manitoba is such a wasteland. I'm going with rogers, but it might just be cheaper to move somewhere else

Will MTS ever get some decent Android phones? Gezz, I am getting tired of waiting for them.

They are beyond terrible. They have zero to offer a consumer who's not interested in an iPhone or a Blackberry
I emailed MTS a couple of weeks ago to ask if they have any new smartphones coming soon and they essentiall gave me a flat out 'No'.

Well Rogers has the coverage now. Wait and see if MTS does anything....

Rogers doesn't have the coverage. I spent last week up by Victoria Beach and could barely get one bar on my Rogers phone if I could get service at all. I could, however, get four bars on my MTS work phone. What gives? I thought Rogers service would improve after they launched the new network with MTS?
Does anyone know the details of the so-called partnership?
Thanks...

I wonder if you were in an area not covered by the "new" network and the MTS phone was getting CDMA.

The Rogers coverage is just as bad near VB as it has always been. I just thought that Rogers was using all of the MTS towers but maybe they are not. I would switch to MTS but their phone selection sucks. Besides, I won't be spending much time near VB in the future anyway.
We need more competition in Manitoba!!!

Yes we do need more competition! Rogers is ok for me because I'm usually in a coverage area and my data works if I ever have to go to Sask......
