So I have a Touch Pro with Bell and it's really bad, even with custom roms. Windows Mobile sucks big time.
I really want to upgrade but I'm not going to overpay if I can't do it the way I want.
Their default options are rather ridiculous:
Apple iPhone 4 your price: $233.95 on a 3 year renewal with a data plan
BlackBerry® Torch 9800 your price: $223.95 on a 3 year renewal with a data plan
Samsung Galaxy S™ Vibrant™ your price: $173.95 on a 3 year renewal with a data plan
BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700 your price: $123.95 on a 3 year renewal with a data plan
Now I'm looking at this: http://mobilesyrup.com/2010/12/26/various-canadian-boxing-day-wireless-promos/
Desire Z seems to be a really great phone from what I read (and I also wanted an android phone since I don't like the iphone and WM is a real joke)
So if you're a new customer you can basically get a free desire z + 150$ gift card. Now I know I'm not a new customer, but here's what I want.
I'd be willing to re-sign another 3yr contract if I can get desire z either for free or for 80$ (without their 75$ rebate for new customers).
Do you think they would do it for me? Maybe some additional things like free caller id or something like that since I've been with them for 2 years and will be for 3 more?
Here's how I want to build my argument.
1. If they don't let me upgrade this way, I can simply wait out one more year and leave. Competition is getting stiff and it will be pretty hard to add new customers or win over old customers. I will tell them that there are other options (competitors), especially public mobile, mobilicity and wind where you can get everything included and unlimited for half the price that I'm paying Bell. And while mobilicity and wind don't serve Quebec and public mobile doesn't have a data plan and decent phones, it'll surely change by the end of next November when my contract expires, so it makes a lot of sense for them to secure my commitment.
2. If this link (http://mobilesyrup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4991) is correct, I can simply leave them for 50$ and re-sign as a new customer, getting it for free and getting a 150$ gift card. This leaves me with a positive balance of 100$ (150$ gift card - 50$ cancellation fee)
3. I will also complain about my phone, since it's disturbingly slow, I get dropped called, fragments of messages, sometimes I don't get messages or calls at all and the same when I call or send someone a message. I'll ask them if they think I deserve some good service after 2 year of crappy service...

So what do you guys think? Are they gonna do it for me or will they tell me to take a hike? If they will, am I getting a good deal, bad deal? Am I asking too much, too little? I know that a potential downside could be that 3 years is too long for a phone. Actually I don't mind it if it's a good phone and works well. I wouldn't mind still having my TP but WM is killing me. Even though it's 2 years old, my phone still has almost everything a phone can have. Unfortunately when I was shopping for it, I only looked at hardware options and features and knew nothing about mobile operating systems.

The Deals are for new customers. Honestly you will never get them to change that policy and you will never get them to budge that at all. I can't tell you what to do, but I can tell you that bell doesn't care what you do as they don't care if you go over to telus or another carrier as there will be another few who are switching from telus over to bell as I type out this.

honestly it sounds like the vibrant of the bold depending upon which offer you want to take. if you want to perhaps say you are cancelling they might provide you with some retention offers, but I doubt that bill will do anything for you. I would go with the vibrant after a looking at it, it's my personal choice the rest is up to you.

If you have to spend that much money on a phone, even with a renewal, I'd suggest buying a vibrant on ebay or the likes and just transferring your sim card over for the extra couple hundred or so bucks.

Then when your contract runs out, find a better deal.

it took me a while to convince them but then I went to the store and got the phone in 5 minutes for 90.25$+tax
Completely amazing phone compared to Touch Pro!

hehe thanks) nah I got desire. a lot of people seem to have problems with vibrant plus I like desire a lot more feature-wise. I have two weeks to test it (as long as I don't talk more than 30 minutes on it) and if there's something wrong I can exchange it directly in the store
