I was waiting for this when it was first announced and then got tired waiting. When it comes out, will anyone still be interested? It is positioned as a business phone, so it looks like it is competing with BlackBerry. I think that non-business people are interested in it. I certainly was. With it taking so long to become available, I wonder who would be interested in it when it does come out.

It will take a while before it comes to Canada, it will be launched in UK first.

I really like the idea of this phone but I'm not sure Symbian is going to cut it in an Android/iOS world.

Nokia is positioning it as a business phone. At least it sets an expectation that people can expect Symbian to meet. It's also not really geared towards competing with Android/iOS in the high end market. That is supposed to be where Meego devices will be positioned.

It will work fine for business! I'm a BB user but have used Symbian on a SE device in the past. What you will miss out on is some of the cool, North American focused apps ie: Personal Banking Apps (CIBC, TD, etc), Sirius, Slacker Radio and so on!

Having said all that, I'd LOVE to win the N8 Mobile Syrup is giving away today!

Me too. :D

Hopefully the E7 isn't released that late since I've been reading the first PR2.0 firmware update for Symbian^3 is going to be released the same time as the E7...although Nokia's saying the update will be "early 2011".

I just don't understand why we need another Linux-based mobile phone OS!? Android may not be perfect but I wish Nokia (and others) would put the efforts into making it perfect rather than starting their own!

I have never been into Symbian so I cannot guarantee that I would like it, but I have to say that the design of the N7 looked very well constructed and was a phone that I was looking forward to launching.

Ah well, no harm in waiting.

They are taking orders for it in Finland now. The price is 600 Euros which is about $800 CDN. I'm no longer in the market for one since I bought a Desire Z. The Desire Z was only $500 CDN. Even if I were in the market for a phone now, between a $500 Desire Z and a $800 E7, I'd be hard pressed to justify $300 more for the E7.

I just did a straight currency conversion. The actual retail price when it becomes available in Canada is likely to be different.

I don't like the E7 for the price. Its priced way too high. Its camera is EDoF and not auto-focus, so goodbye scanning barcodes or documents. There is no microsd slot. The battery is non-user-replaceable and small (1200mAh) compared to previous E-series phones like the E72 which all had replaceable 1500 mAh. Why make so many compromises for what is a very pricey phone and so many competitors are now available? I would rather that they make an affordable QWERTY Symbian^3 slider in the $350 range. Nokia had earlier said that Symbian will be mid-range, but the E7 is nowhere mid-range, sitting way above its competition in price. From HTC Desire Z, to Droid Pro to rumored new Blackberries, the E7 is not a good match.
