Dumbest idea ever. Not only that, in the survey, they are not considering it only for mobile devices. They are considering it for cable-internet as well.

The sad thing is, people will pay $10/mo for it because they think that's why their connection is slow. Chances are, Rogers is going to start throttling connections all around intentionally and only those that pay more will get 'regular' speeds.

I'm glad I have Shaw cable in my area, don't have to get this crap from Rogers. I really hope that the CRTC monitors this very carefully, cause yeah, that wouldn't surprise me at all if they started throttling their own customers to get them to pick up this $10/month charge.

Right now on 3G/3G+ I am enjoying my Samsung Focus very much, and in my area, I doubt very much that their network would get congested, however in places like Toronto I can see their network getting a little over used, but then they should have taken Bells approach. An additional 10$ charge for the high, high speed devices, which is not unreasonable.
