I'm in the market for my first smartphone and I'm debating the Palm Centro or the BB Curve. I want to know what other users of both devices think. I've always been a Palm OS fan since I bought my first Palm Professional and the simplicity of the Centro appeals to me. I think I'll be using it more as phone than data device. Now the BB Curve is also a good smartphone and seems to be more popular and well the OS won't be dropped like the Palm OS.
So what are peoples thoughts on this. Anyone been users of both or switched from one to another?

i have used the Blackberry 8320,8300 and also have had the Palm Centro for about 2 weeks with the Centro. To start off with the Centro it is their best device with the OS that they currently run. Doesn't have the email glory of the Blackberry but if your not hardcore user than its okay. OS on the Blackberry is more detailed than the Centro, Palm OS is more user friendly ( thats what i thought). Also i would like to know which Blackberry Curve are you planning on getting, if you decide the 8320 than i would go with that. It has the UMA service which will help decrease your phone bill. The UMA service works where you can find any wifi connection the Blackberry will jump onto the wifi and direct calls through that. If you live in a place where you signal is weak UMA is the way to go.

Thanks for your thoughts. Everything I've been reading about the Centro is that it's a solid phone but without all the glitter of the latest and greatest gadget phone (ie. iPhone). If I would get the curve it would be the 8320. A buddy of mine just got the Bold and loves it and also recommends either the Bold or the 8320 because of the wifi. While he's at work or home he uses the wifi so it's only when he his truly mobile that the network is used. A big plus I see. Still I seem attracted to the Centro, but I want to not totally dismiss the Curve yet. Also for me it's a question of carrier. The Centro at Rogers is $299 but at Bell it's $49, so if I get the Centro I'll go with Bell (I don't have a contract with anyone at the moment, I'm on pay-as-you-go), But the Curve 8320 seems to be the only curve worth while to get but it's only available on Rogers but at a nice $99 price tag. Make it hard to decide.

Also something else to consider is that they lock you up once you get that contract. They own you after lol . But check the plans out for data and voice in Rogers and Bell. See what suits you best and from there maybe the device choice might be easier. Because you don't want to think just about $49 on Bell and than pay more on a monthly basis.

True on the contact part. It's always so hard to really compare the plans between the carriers since none of them are the same. I've also been looking into who is the cheapest for roaming since I travel to the US very often. Rogers being GSM is something I like better but Bell seems to have better package for me locally at least. I can't figure out who has the better US roaming yet.
After all my research I can conclude that my head is still spinning and that our neighbors to the south get better deals on mobile phones than we do.

Well we will never see better pricing until we demand for better pricing. There us more competition in the US but not that much more and no reason why we can't have the same services and prices. It'll take one carrier low-balling the others to increase the people switching. But then again, it looks like nobody needs to lower their prices, we seem quite happy to pay more ;)
Back to making spreadsheets of plan comparisons .... now I know what I've been on pay-as-you-go for so long!
