View Full Version : Win 7 HTC vs Desire vs Fascinate

1. With looks aside, which one would be the best phone?

Spec wise the fascinate looked impressive especially with the AMOLED screen and flash it looks pretty promising.

2. Since i decided to wait for the next phone , i'm in no hurry, without making this a perpetual cycle... would there be another android/smartphone worth waiting for before christmas?

Looking to purchase a Telus phone mid December or latest New Years.

Thanks to any insight. Windows 7 os seemed not very customizable.

I liked the 1000 different things you could do on the android forums to the htc desire... amazing homescreen/widget thread. I ***ume the samsung would provide the same amount of customization.

I'm heavily leaning towards a Desire or Fascinate. It's so easy to put custom ROMs and UIs on them. The Win7 UI doesn't really peak my interest and I'm certain that they will be locked down pretty hard.

The higher end Android fones are the best on the market IMO. The super AMOLED screens on the Fascinate are awesome and it out-specs the Desire. For me, it will come down to what kind of deal I can negotiate.

my thoughts exactly, what about the desire HD , Z etc.. any other phones to appear before christmas / worth the 2-3 months more wait?

I'm going to follow this thread and I would like to add a sub question: can you predict which of these upcoming phones will be available on a 3 yr deal without a data plan? I know HTC desire was offred w/o, changed while I was waiting for my phone....grrrrr . So now I'm waiting for the next similar opportunity.

I would definatly go with the Galaxy S. They are amazing phones and I wish I could afford one :). Though the Desire is tempting as well!

Yeah, my contract ends in december, might have to consider the fascinate

Only hesitation is if the desire HD or somethign comes out in February... then again there will always be more things coming out constantly.

Thats what happened to me actually I signed up for a 3 year with a regular phone the month before they started to allow data phones on 3 year voice only at promotional price. Was not happy but I do have a better plan for $25 than is offered now so might as well just buy out the Galaxy Apollo and get my smartphone :). If I could afford the Fascinate I would have it though lol.

I think you would be happy with aFascinate or Desire. They're both solid fones. I'm currently on the fence as to which one I prefer. If you wait for the "next new thing" you will miss out on a lot of quality fones out now. I actually had a chance to do a hands on with a Desire and the screen is much better then I expected. I didn't think it would match the Super AMOLED on the Galaxy S fones but now I'm not sure the difference is that important to me. I do know the Galaxy S fones do outspec the Desire, but I like the Desire form factor.

And to put a bit more fuel in the fire... I just read today that the successor to the Nexus One is right around the corner!

I am also in this boat. I am up for renewal and am not sure which phone I should get. Right now it would be between the desire and fascinate. I know the fascinate out specs the desire but I like the sense ui better and have heard that samsung aren't as good at os updates as htc.

Even If the desire hd does come to telus I don't think I would get it because the 1230 mah battery would not go very far.

I am wanting to wait for the right phone to come out but that is really hard when there are some good options right now.

If anyone has either of these phones can you please comment on your experience with them.
