I'm going to be upgrading right away and I'm leaning towards the iphone. I just want to know how people are liking theirs and if there are any issues or anything that make you wish you bought something else??

This was given to me by a friend, i think it might help you make a better decision for what device to get.
Pros
1.) The price for this phone is more reasonable ($199 & $299 vs. it’s $399 & $499 predecessor)
2.) The 3G “iPhone is much, much faster at fetching data over cellphone networks because it uses a speedy cellular technology”
3.) The new iPhone “mostly keeps its promises”
4.) “I found that doing email and surfing the Internet typically was between three and five times as fast using AT&T’s 3G network as it was with the older AT&T network to which the first iPhone was limited.”
5.) Louder audio capabilities
6.) Exchange ActiveSync is fully functional. Changes made in Outlook are instantly reflected.
7.) “In my tests, in Washington and New York, I got data speeds mostly ranging between 200 and 500 kilobits per second. By comparison, the original iPhone, tested in the same spots at the same time, mostly got cellular data speeds between 70 and 150 kbps on AT&T’s old EDGE network.”
8.) AOL Radio, AIM, and Truveo work very well.
9.) App Store
Cons
1.) The battery drains quicker than the old iPhone.
2.) To use Internet on the new iPhone, AT&T has raised data plans by $10. If you have a 2 year plan, that is an additional $240 that the user has to pay. This contradicts the $200 savings that you get from the old iPhone.
3.) Echo effect created when using Bluetooth
4.) Built-in camera is only 2 Megapixels and video cannot be recorded.

If you are looking for the ultimate internet/iPod experience by all means the iPhone is for you. Solid OS, good looks but IMO "jailbreak" the phone to get the maximum out of it (this coming from a 1st generation iPhone owner)

Some responses to your post:
From the Pros:
1. Pricing is reasonable. But be mindful that if your plan is less than $30 MSF, you're going to be paying $249/8GB or $349/16GB.
2. The 3G network is crazy fast. But, it is highly susceptible to network congestion and traffic which can slow it down to Edge speeds. Something to keep in mind.
3. Not sure what promises the iPhone was suposed to keep LOL
4. 3G vs 2G... similar to the difference between chocolate and sht.
5. The external speaker volume is a fraction louder, but still very quiet compared to other smartphones.
6. Exchange servers work great with iPhones and put no strain on your battery at all.
8. Internet radio works like a charm but make sure you have at least $30/1GB data plan. Awesome sound quality - better than my Blackberry. I recommend WunderRadio from the App Store - $5.99
9. Simply put: revolutionary.
From the Cons:
1. The battery does not drain quicker than the older generation of iPhone. I actually found my iPhone 3G battery lasting just as long as my previous gen iPhone battery. Make sure your iPhone is running software version 2.2
2. Rogers offers great data plans for the iPhone:
- $25 for 500mb (most of my customers are satisfied with this choice)
- $30 for 1gb
3. Haven't heard of an echo effect with a bluetooth headset before. That could be compatibility related between that particular headset and the phone (none of my customers have reported back to me anything of that nature)
4. Camera cannot record video - sucks.
--------
Now, here are my pros/cons about the iPhone.
Pros:
- Great audio/video device
- Great browsing experience with Safari (issues have been fixed in 2.2)
- Love the fact that I can get internet radio
- Comes in white... sweet
- Exchange support = push e-mailing
- Easy to use interface
- Great gaming platform
Cons:
- No landscape keyboard for texting or e-mailing.
- No copy & paste
- No video recording
- 2.0MP camera... on a smartphone? Get with the times...
- Fetch e-mail wastes battery life
- No flash support for web browsing
- No push notification system
Some of the cons list can be addressed but jailbreaking, but I would prefer these things be addressed by APPLE.

No landscape keyboard?

Nope. So if you need to type out a lengthy email or lengthy text message, you'll be stuck with the standard crammed portrait keyboard. Oh and autocorrect fully has a mind of its own. So, if you want to use text messaging / e-mail and don't have really really skinny fingers, you might want to rethink your purchase decision.
Coming from a touch screen keyboard (iPhone) to a physical keyboard (Bold), there's no comparison between the two.

I'm really surprised with the stuff I found out it didn't have and or didn't do well. This forum is awesome because I would have went with the iphone before. Now it's 8900 all the way.

I think you'll be happier with the 8900. It really is an awesome device, was playing around with one today, definitely impressed with overall build quality.

now here's the "but" for the iphone
but when you jailbreak it, you can do most but i think all of the cons mentioned.

Good point.
However, Apple should have offered support for the cons out of the box.

Very true but Apple has always imo been this way, slowly milking the fanboys dollars :)
btw i was just playing devil's advocate to keep the thread interesting as i myself am on the iphone fence.
I am still thinking of doing the Fido plan with an 8gb and it seems better apps are now being released but my main "hold" is MMS, if only i could do it without "jailbreaking" :(

I think you made a good choice for what's currently available, if the Nokia 5800 was Carrier branded i would have said that was the better "iphone" :)

the 8900 seems to get better and better. I consider myself lucky not to be in a 3g area cause I would've got the bold. The only time I sit on my ass and surf on my phone I'm usually on wifi anyways and people are amazed how fast this phone is.
5-Row QWERTY Keyboard adds fifth row with numbers to the jailbroken iPhone’s keyboard:
