Can someone share their peliminary experiance if they have mobilicity on their phones?
I am trying to get wind right now but if mobilicity has better reception then I might go with them instead.

right now WIND will have the best reception of the new carriers, as they've been around the longest.
If you want reception, go with one of the Big 3. If you want cheap, don't expect great coverage for a couple of years.

I was about to sign up, but they didn't cover Pickering,ON. They aren't even that great. They seemed to be complaining a lot about the launch of Chatr. Sure there points are valid, but they seemed to scared and unconfident in themeselves to beat Chatr or Rogers. Now WIND on the other hand was like "BRING IT ON!"

not I, but a rumour has them having only 3,000 subs

Damn, that's horrible... No wonder they're throwing that law suit at ROGERS. Chatr + Wind + everyother sub brand, will destroy them!

Should I be in a contract with this?
The only thing I like about this is that it has cheap contract.

Mobilicity launched with a bang but is going down with a whimper. Most of their corporate stores are closing down. Their flagship store in the Heartland town Center in Mississauga, Markham, Scarborough and Downtown are all shutting down. What happened?
Can anyone shed light on this? Why are they closing their flagship corporate stores if they are not going bankrupt?

I'm using their SONY TM506 phone with $25 plan.
Well, as i saw. The stores are still open around the Markham area and didn't notice which one was closed.

I'm using their SONY TM506 and $25 plan. Really could have the reception even upper than Elgin Mills.

Try it for a month and see how the signal works for you as it's obviously different for everyone in terms of where they go. Or try reading users feedback from other forums.

how is coverage in Mississauga?
I live in Mississauga, and coverage is pretty good everywhere except in my school. I'm starting to think there's a dark hole in there, even Rogers' coverage isn't good enough.

I'm in ottawa and the reception is better than rogers and wind.
I live and work in the east-end, and get good reception and fast data :)
No dropped calls at all.

I'm in Vancouver and signed up yesterday. The signal has been strong everywhere I've gone so far (UBC, and Broadway from Cambie to Alma). I haven't made many calls so far, but they've been crystal clear.

I have had Mobilicity's Nokia 5230 for about a week now (having been a Telus customer for over 10 years). I live in Richmond (Greater Vancouver Area) and to be completely honest, I have noticed that in some places (indoor), I have had poor reception. I have not had a reception problem on my Telus LG phone, even when I called overseas. Having said that, I will admit that I had horrible experiences with my Telus Blackberries in the past, especially when I called overseas so the problem may partially be phone's fault. I got the unlimited data plan and the internet works fine most of the time but I don't think it's as reliable or as stable as the one I had with Telus. I do recall having reception problems and spotty data with Telus wayyy back in the past (up at SFU, some parts downtown) so hopefully Mobilicity will improve their service.
I have made calls to the US (North America calling is included in my plan) and overseas and the reception was totally fine where I live. In my opinion, nobody else is offering anything close to the value Mobilicity is offering, especially with their limited time offers. Their long distance rates are phenominal and for someone like me who has a lot of family overseas, it's a great deal. One drawback/benefit (whichever way you look at it) is that you have to put some money into your account if you want to do anything that isn't included in your plan. This does prevent you from getting a nasty suprise at the end of the month (who hasn't had one of those lol) but it is a h***le for some people to add money to their accounts.
The biggest problem I have with Mobilicity is their coverage area. Parts of the Highway 91 (East-West connector) and the Delta/Tsaww***en area are not included in their area. Also, according to their maps Riverport (Richmond 6rinks/Silvercity) are not covered. I personally have not travelled in any of those areas this past week but paying roaming charges($0.20/min) to use my phone 10 minutes from my home does seem annoying.
The salesperson I bought my phone from did tell me that the Highway 91 and Riverport area is covered now but that doesn't seem to be the case from the Cellular Tower maps I found on the internet. Their staff seems less knowledgable and inexperienced compared to my previous experiences at phone dealerships but I pretty much expected that walking through the doors.
Overall, I would say have a good look at what Mobilicity is offering and what your current provider is. For me, the choice was a no brainer because they were offering a lot more for less than half of what I was paying at Telus. It feels good not being locked in on a 3 year contract. =)
By the way, sorry for such a long response.

Does anyone know the reception in Ottawa, specifically in and around Nepean?
I was going to go with Wind, but if the reception is better, I may consider Mobilicity.
Thanks!

It seems that their coverage is slightly better then the map they provide with occasional blind spots right in the middle of the area and the signal strength dropping a kilometer or so past the border. I tested around Orleans and the airport, can't say much about Nepean.
Inside the buildings it's spotty.

Been with Mobilicity for over a month, signed up under the family/friends promotion. No problem with reception in Toronto and surrounding area.
Problem areas will be inside malls and parking lots. You can't beat Mobilicitiy's current offer of $10 unlimited downloading.
Wind is $35. Was with wind for a few months but switched over to Mobilicity because of a special offer $40 a month unlimited everything forever.
I would keep away from the blackberry curve 3g, I find the screen to small for me and that I constantly have to hit the zoom button. But I am an old guy.

@Ymkim84: thanks for the detailed info, specifically about call quality. what sounds like half-duplex call quality on Wind's network is bugging me.

how is coverage in Mississauga?
Absolutely terrible.
If you plan to use your phone in the basement, don't do it.
But if you want to go shopping and want to talk in an underground parking lot, the reception is pretty awesome.
EDIT: I forgot, the data is really terrible. If you lose a signal you WILL lose your data connection and you WILL need to hard boot your phone to get data back again.
