Ok, so im pretty sure im going to buy an unlocked Milestone and go with Rogers. I was wondering though, last time I wanted to go with a carrier, even if I bought the phone they didnt want to give me a plan. Is there a way I can find out if they will accept me on a plan before I dish out 600$ on the phone ?

I walked into a Rogers dealer store about 6 months ago with a used (unlocked) Blackbery, wanting this put on a monthly plan. They refused unless I was willing to sign a one year contract.

Try calling Rogers directly, or going to a retail store like Best Buy. Dealers only make money on contracts, and they consider it a waste of their time activating an unlocked phone. You know, seeing as they're always swamped with customers.

Call the sales line at Rogers. Ask for a Month to Month SIM activation. From what I understand you can't get the $50 combo plans unless you sign 3 years, but separate voice and data plans you can. My friend did this last week.
