Hi, I was thinking about cancelling my landline and my service with virgin and just go with a plan with a new cellphone. I was looking for a great phone and it came down between the iphone 3gs or the milestone. After reading alot of reviews around the web, I think the milestone would fit me better.
Now my question is, since only Telus has the milestone at least in quebec, how reliable is their network ? I was reading about carriers for quebec and it seems Rogers is a better choice, but buying the milestone from Telus then unlocking it seems a bit pricey.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you !

First of all, your best bet is to check out coverage maps on both carriers:
http://www.telusmobility.com/en/AB/hspa/canada3gmaps.shtml
http://www.rogers.com/web/content/wireless_network?setLanguage=en&cm_sp=Consumer-_-Network_1109_Eng-_-Network_LowerBadge
They look very similar to me, Rogers has a bit more coverage, but they could also be overexaggerating the signal strength of their towers.
However, reading further into Roger's website, it seems that they've upgraded most of Quebec to HSPA+ (up to 21mbps), while Telus is only on HSPA (7.2 mbps). You may or may not notice much of a difference for everyday use.
As for the device, I personally would rather pay the full $500 or whatever for a phone, and not be tied to a contract, so paying the extra $10 to unlock and use on Rogers wouldn't be a big deal to me if I think I'll get better cell service. However, If you're planning to get the phone for cheaper on a 3-year contract, I guess you're stuck with Telus, hopefully that doesn't end up being a bad thing.

I red somewhere some people had trouble with the paid apps on the android market after they unlocked their milestone, is it still the case ?
Another question, can the milestone read pdf files ?

As far as I know, that issue was a few months ago. Paid apps should work on the big 3 at the very least on all android devices.
And you get download an app that can read pdf's, there's literally a whole pile.
