I live in Calgary and most of my family has been with WIND for just over a year, and we're happy with the service they provide us with, but there are still dead zones in certain places. My dad's job has him travelling outside of WIND Zones often, and because of this he has stuck to the Big 3. We were considering having him switch over to Mobilicity, but we were wondering, does Mobilicity have better coverage compared to WIND, or are the zones about equal?

If you need service that is reliable have a look at Koodo as they are owned by Telus and use Telus towers

Yes mobilicity does have better coverage than wind but if you go to wind to you can save money on your plan because there is a family plan

They both suck equally. Virgin is a good option. Cheaper plans, supertab option... Uses the Bell/Telus network.

There is dead zones in every carrier, and reading a responce saying "service sucks equally, buy Virgin" should be taken with several grains of salt!
Try them out, see if you like them, return and get 100% refund if you don't. Lots of people love the new guys.
That's just my biased opinion though. In the end, as the fineprint is fond of saying:
"Individual Results may Vary"
One thing is clear though: show your three year contract to anyone outside of Canada and they will laugh at you.

Coverage is all relative to where you are.
Right now, strictly on promotions:
$25 mobi has unlimited data over wind's 100mb.
$40 mobi has US/CA long distance, plus BBM / voicemail over wind's 40 plan.
