I have had network issues with Rogers in Vancouver for the past 4 months. Still having them, but its a little tolerable now....
Issue: Dropped calls
Rogers: We dont have enough towers. Will take more than a year to fix.
Offer: 350 minutes, unlimited incoming, 6 pm evenings, Free caller ID, Free
1000 Long Distance minutes
All of this for $37.70 + taxes for the remainder of my contract (30 months).
Can also add on 500 text messages for $5.00
OR
They can scrap my contract (that means I am free to go.....)
I hope you guys can understand my confusion, coz I am confused.... I can see someone like WIND or Mobilicity coming to Vancouver in the next couple of months with unlimited nationwide calling and text for $45.00 +tax.
All the help on this would be of great help.
Thanks folks....

I would agree, tell your issue to TELUS and see what they can do for you. They want you as a customer, especially in their hometown.

If your issue is coverage area, I'm really not sure if Wind is going to be the answer for you. Their coverage isn't exactly great in the areas they've already launched in.
As for Roger's offer, is that the type of package that will suit your needs? It's not about getting the most stuff, it's about getting what you need for the best price. Try calling Telus again (different reps tend to generate different offers), or if you happen to work for a certain company or are a member of certain ***ociations, you may be entitled to EPP or corporate plans. Additionally, discount carriers might have deals that suit for better. For example, with Virgin or Koodo, they have the $50 plan with [300 minutes, E+W from 7, nation-wide calling included, unlimited text, call display and voicemail],and both have Telus/Bell coverage area.
In any case, it's always a good idea to check back here :)

Thanks for you input.... With rogers I have the Nokia 5800 (I am quite happy with this). Dont really need a data plan. So what I am getting from rogers as per my first post is quite sufficient for me. I was paying $66 for it, but now they have offered me the same deal at $38... I am tempted to take the offer, but just wanted to explore my possibilities with other carriers and experience of other customers.
Also, wanted to know if there is more room for negotiation with them to add some more services or more discounts....
Looking forward to hearing from you guys..
Cheers

Called and talked to Rogers retentions dept. gave them my option 2. and the rep offered me 2500 text + 250 minutes + VM at no additional cost.... TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.... right? Yes it was...
The story changes (and why am I not surprised) = The guy tells me that all of this only for a year?????? So I tell him how I have had network issues and everything. Also told him that either all of this has to be for the remainder of my contract, or I am cancelling (they have already waived the $400 penalty)..
So, now he puts me on hold and comes back... Cant do it, but I stuck to my guns and he tells me that a manager/supervisor will call me Monday to discuss what options I have......
Question to all here????
1. What can I expect from the Manager/Supervisor?
2. If they still tell me, its only 1 year. Do I walk?
3. Any other ideas guys?

1. You can expect him not to call at all.
2. Id walk anyway because the discounts don't make up for the fact you have network issues and have trouble using your phone.
3. Call all the providers and see what they are willing to offer.

First of all - Thanks a lot folks for all the suggestions. Here is how it all worked out.
I got a call from the Manager today, and now the matter is officially closed.
I think I got what I wanted and then some.....
This thing has taken a lot of effort and time, and certainly did not come easy.
This is what I have in the end.
- 350+250 (600) Day time minutes
- Unlimited Incoming
- 6 PM Eve & Wknd
- Caller ID
- 1000 LD
- 500 Txt sent + Unltd recieved
= $47.45 + tax
I think this is a pretty good deal for the remainder of my contract (30 months)
Hope I have been a useful contributor to this forum....
