Super phone waiting?

So looking to jump from my silly little cell phone... that only is a phone. into the world of smart/super phones.

I've been reading reviews and watching trade show reports, etc the last couple months.

I had pretty much settled on the HTC Hero, but then I was using the Motorola Milestone and really liked the size of the screen over the Hero.

But I really don't like the "boxy" look of the milestone. So the answer to my dilemma is the HTC Desire. But of course there is no word or even rumors on when/if that will ever hit Canada.

I would probably be looking at a 3 year contract no matter what, so it would suck to go for the milestone and then 3 months later the Desire shows up at Telus or something.

So would it be worth getting the nexus one? not sure if I could afford that might as well just pay the full price for a milestone.

Any thoughts? Should I go after a nexus one/milestone at full price? or hold out for 6months and see is the Desire shows up in Canada?

you could probably get the desire unlocked and bring it over to here, you'll just have to spend a lot of $$$ upfront
