Heads up -- Do not consider Mobilicity if you live in the Port Coquitlam, BC area. Although you may be within their "Mobilicity Unlimited Zone" shown on their website, in reality you probably are not.
I had a Mobi phone for 3 days and it constantly read "Roaming" or "Emergency Call."
And their head office will not give me a full refund for service they could not provide.
My advice if considering Mobilicity is DON'T -- try another carrier such as Chatr. I have been with them for 2 weeks and absolutely no problems.

Reminder to everyone: Chatr == Rogers.

Mobi works fine out there, you may have had a weak antenna in the phone. Did you try another handset? Another SIM? Are you in a basement?
More, did you ACTUALLY try to resolve the issue or are you just one-post-whining?

knowitalljerk -- Yeah, Chatr is Rogers. And I wanted to get away from the Big 3 -- and that's why I tried Mobi. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. So I had to change. The Chatr plan I am on is affordable and has all the perks my Mobi plan had -- and coverage.
0defaced -- Yes, I did try to resolve the reception problem. In the span of 3 days I spoke with Mobi customer service (Central America) 5 times. I followed their instructions to manually select the Mobi network. I had them remotely "refresh" my phone. Nothing worked. For example, While on a call in Coquitlam my phone cut out and switched to Emergency Call mode.
One rep told me that the Mobi pink unlimited zone is actually broken into 2 subzones (not shown on their website) -- Green for good coverage and Yellow for spotty coverage. Port Coquitlam is actually in the yellow zone -- but that is not something anyone tells you when purchasing a plan.
Glad to hear it works for you -- it didn't for me and I had to switch.
BTW -- I'm not in a basement suite and I live near Terry Fox.

Again though, did you ever try a different phone in case it was the hardware?

Port Coquitlam is relatively weak but I believe the service will get out there eventually so just hang tight, I'm with mobi and it's been fine.
