I would have ordered it if Google and Wind had some kind of amazing plan like T-Mobile's version oh well. I'll p*** for now/

I am waiting to see what wind does in the next 6 months. If they do not get the phone I will buy it then. The gravity 2 does all I need for now.

i'll probably order it next month. I want to see if a subsidized option will be available with any canadian carriers first.

I bought one, and have it working on Virgin mobile right now. Voice and data are great, but haven't figured out how to enable MMS text yet.
I am doing month-to-month no contract.
I love the phone so far.

Any chance the Nexus One will have a price drop?

for those who got it. did you pay shipping and did you get charged exuberantly for tax/ duties. i want to order one in the next few weeks and was curious about these things

Considering ordering one just for the hell of it... what's the total end of day cost to get it to your front door? Like $600?
alexflint

i went as far as the Checkout page just to get a total. for the N1 and the charging dock it came to $603.
I ***ume it was Canadian dollars, as my Google account is all Canadian and I picked a canadian address for shipping.

Total cost was around $640 CDN (with the docking station). There was a $36.75 COD fee on top of what google checkout showed when I picked it up. duties/gst i dunno. of course it will be less now that the cdn dollar is pretty high.

Is this the best Android device available now? Or is the milestone better?
CanadianBacon
04-07-2010, 12:13 PM
I would say so. but of course it is a personal thing. some one who loves the Nexus might hate the milestone and vice versa. but... technically speaking it is its superior. faster processor, more ram, nicer screen, and the newest version of android. if you can go without the keyboard, which i have not personally used but hear is weak sauce then i would say it is better

Just ordered mine today. How well does it work with the Roger's network for calls and texting? I live in Saskatchewan and they only offer edge in my area so I know the data is going to suck balls (god I love wifi). Right now I am on a Blackberry flip so I am so ready for a change.
I was going to wait for an Xperia X10 but when I phoned Roger's this week they said they only had pricing for new customers pre-ordering...... where the heck is the love for current Roger's user's who want to upgrade their phones? So I decided to go with Nexus one instead. Now maybe I'll quite Roger's this year and when Sasktel gets their new cell service (HSPA) going this year.
link to sasktel article on their service change.

I like the look of the X10 way better than the N1, but it's too late to the android party.

at this point, altho the N1 is out-specced by many (HTC Incredible & Desire mostly), I am still very tempted by the Nexus. Just for the fact that it will have any new Android OS updates first is enough to sell me. It's solid hardware and is fully backed by the OS maker, just like an can hold it's own for a couple of years. A great OS really makes the phone worth buying.

On at least two different occasions I got almost to the end of the order phase, but chickened out just at the last minute...that huge price tag got the better of me every time!!!
I was also concerned about there being no carrier support if anything went wrong. I'd read a few horrow stories about returning the unit and/or trying to get it repaired / replaced.
Any how, I decided to hold off just to see who'd get what in terms of android devices in Canada. I'm kinda happy I did as the HTC Triumph from Telus looks to be very promising. I'm holding out for that right now instead :D

Triumph looks good so far, hope it's true with all the specs

Looks like the internet has finally decided that it is a desire for canada. HTC is so good at selling the same phone with like 40 different names.

I got mine two weeks ago, its fantastic. It was so easy to transfer from HTC Touch Pro on Bell to the Nexus One. In and out in 5 minutes. No change to plan, no new contract, it was fantastic.
I signed up with a promotion last year from Bell for a plan that includes 700 minutes, fab 5, unlimited data, unlimited texting, call display, voice mail. The whole package for $50. I don't even come close to using it all.

^ That's a good deal plus I hear that you can 2.2 now on it?

Isn't the Desire exactly like the Nexus One?
Skippy101
05-29-2010, 05:34 PM
I think 2.2 will be pushed out to the N1 sooner than any cdn device

With the new Blackberry Slider and OS6 just around the corner, there's no way I'm getting a Nexus One or any Android device.
There are a lot of cool phones coming out this year, but I limit myself to one new phone every year (usually in the fall) :(

I would choose the N1 over the BB slider any day.

me too, but I'll wait the see the slider? Who's getting this - Bell?
That would be my guess.
I'm not due for an upgrade until later in the year, so in addition to the slider I'll wait and see what the Storm3 looks like.
I love Surepress. I would have a hard time switching to a phone without it.
