the mobile broswing only covers mobile website (m.twitter.com, m.google.com etc)
If you want to use apps, like Google Maps, or YouTube, you need a full data plan.

That's not true. As of August, when the Unlimited Mobile Browsing went up in price from $7 to $10, things changed.

3rd Party Apps like Google Maps, Opera Mini ect ect are all included with UMB. As long as its a eligible Rogers phone you can do almost anything. You can download Opera Mini, which is better than the Rogers browser, and view full HTML sites, if your phone is capable, which most of the newer Quick Messaging Devices are. No need to be forced to view only WAP sites or the mobile versions (I really dislike the term WAP Browser that Rogers continues to use. The current phones are not like the flip phones or cheap candy bar phones of years past that were not capable of viewing HTML).

As long as the phone is a Rogers eligible phone, you can do as much on device browsing as you want. (*note* some 3rd party apps use the internet.com apn by default. This is still covered by UMB. Before Aug '09, you could only use apps if you could get them to work through goam.com (GOROGERS).

UMB cannot be used on Smartphones, non Rogers phones or be used for tethering.

About downloading with UMB: I have never had any charges downloading 3rd Party apps or ringtones/wallpaper (except from the Rogers Mall). I've downloaded tons of stuff on several different phones. I've probably downloaded 100 ringtones from mobiles24.com.

UMB is definitely improved since last year and with these newer Feature Phones, like the Samsung Flight/Corby Pro, Nokia 5800/Surge, LG Xenon/Shine Touch ect ect, a person can get many features previously only found on Smartphones with pricey Data plans....
