First and foremost: this thread is by no means meant to be hostile.

I've been reading these forums and website for a good amount of months now and I can't stop being shocked about how much people rob this site of it's intended content. Rest ***ured, most of you more frequent users are not who I'm talking about as you guys keep this place interesting for many, however, is it necessary for the rest to reply to every article and posting on this site with a comment about how you thinking the Big 3 are molesting you? Is it so difficult to stay focused on the point of the article that has been posted and discuss the topic instead of dragging a worn-down topic into it?

Yes, sometimes it is relevant to the conversation, however, most of the time it is not. A comment is made about the operating system of an android device and the reply goes on to say how such-and-such carrier is a pack of fascists anyways.

I commend the efforts put forth by the writers of the articles and they're always ruined by idiots spamming their hatred for their wireless carrier. Yes, we all know that Canada pays high rates in comparison to other countries in the world. We only have 30 million people in this country spanned across a ridiculous amount of land m***. How 'cheap' do you think it's going to be? Not to justify that we should pay a lot more and that the big three companies have not done some shady stuff, but get off it already. Asian, European, and US markets can not even come close to comparing to Canada. The government rules on international funding make one of many points in understanding high prices a little bit more understandable along with other things.

All lot of you seem to attribute shady actions of a salesperson you dealt with to the overall action plan of an organization/carrier. Try this: next time you want to go buy a cell phone or do something wireless-related, do your homework first. No one will feel sorry for people who walk into wireless stores with their pants down and cheeks spread... you're just asking for it. These companies aren't out to screw you over, they love your money. All these retention departments and research departments are ways to keep you spending and to find out HOW you spend.

I've said enough, I just think that the people who contribute genuinely good ideas to these forums and people who spend time writing articles deserved a little more credit rather than constant carrier bashing.

Cheers

touche! I see your point and believe this is a place where people can vent their frustrations with the carriers/service and actually be heard. There is noting worse than paying for something and not getting value for it/or what you expected. When it comes to bashing on an OS I personally want to have what is the latest, simply because technology moves so fast and want to keep up.

I'm not against being able to vent at all. I see what you mean but I'm more pointing towards articles like: Bell launching PVR access from smartphones! and the first response be a complaint how they over charged someone on their bill and its everyone's fault but their own instead of talking about how cool of an idea it is to record on your PVR from your phone.

If I had my way, there would be a venting thread for every carrier and then the rest of the thread would be moderated for related content.

I do agree with sindikation as well as urbnlgcy.

There is a time and place for everything. If a thread is about an upcoming handset, we shouldn't have people ranting about their bills.

I definitely understand that people get frustrated with an experience they might have had with a customer service rep or dealer, but I believe the ranting should be saved for a 'comments on service' thread UNLESS is pertains directly to the topic. I.E. You called Rogers/TELUS/Bell/WIND about getting a new handset and they gave you wrong information etc.

Most members of the forum come to get the latest news, as well as advice on handsets, carriers etc. If someone gets off topic because they are frustrated or excited, just kindly remind them of the subject matter.

In the end, it is a public forum and people are going to write what they want, where they want to. As long as it is sort of relevant, I say GO FOR IT!

Just my two cents :)

Yeah, there's a lot of people drinking the haterade.
Weather it's carriers, phones, or software. It seems they are trying to bash the other products in a lame attempt to validate their own choice.
Lame :(

This site isn't as bad as some. Maybe Canadians are a little more laid back :D
