I know this place is focused around Android, but does anyone have (or remember) the Wave S8500 that Bell/Rogers released and then never spoke of again?
I love the hardware, but Bada is a cruel joke. To make thing worse, there are no Canadian updates to 1.2...which the rest of the world got a year ago. The other issue seems to be that Samsung focused this device at the Asia/Europe markets and never released it in the US, meaning the firmware available to flash does not have the UMTS 850/1900 3G band support we use here in Canada. On top of that, Can't use Kies Canada Bada app store, says my device is not supported - But changing my location to the UK solves that.
Complicating things further is the fact that the firmware that came with this thing is a mess in terms of Identification.
SW version : S8500XEJK2
CSC version: S8500CISJK1
Much googling later, and turns out support for Bada in Canada is dead to Samsung.
I was thinking of loading up the (euro) Bada 2 Beta, but I'll almost certainly lose 3G connectivity. I have been unable to reliably get an answer from anyone to see if 3G works on Bada 2 in Canada, as there is no going back to my original firmware. :(
