hey all,

I have 7 months left on my contract, and have started looking for a new phone...

the wal-mart I am working at has the following that interest me, should I choose to use my hardware upgrade credit of $200:

LG Xenon (touchscreen bar with slide out qwerty keyboard like the Rumour)
Samsung Impact (touchscreen bar)
Nokia 6350 (clamshell/Flip)
Nokia 2730 (bar)

If I break my current contract and go with the walmart employee plan (half off almost any smart phone plan!), i will be getting the Palm Pre, even though its a non HSPA phone, since its $0 for 3 years ...

What are everyone's thoughts on these Bell phones?

Also, if I use my HUG, does that automatically mean I re-up for another 3 years? Or do I just continue to ride out the current contract, just with a better phone?

also, is Unlimited Mobile Browser still available? I couldn't find it on the bell website last night...

I am not considering the iphone (with a new contract) due to the single walmart in Oshawa selling it, its a terrible store with terrible service.

hmmm since no ideas have been posted...

one requirement for my new phone is that it has to have a flash for the camera...

I really could use some suggestions or opinions...

I would prefer to not pay more than $100 over the $200 Hardware Upgrade Credit I have...

Having the phone support an 8GB microsd card would be nice but i have a 2GB one if the phone doesn't...

Firstly, I would recommend you go to a Bell store and play with all the phones you might be interested in since there's large differences between a lot of the phones. But to answer a few of your questions:

- By doing a hardware upgrade, you a indeed renewing your contract.
- Unlimited Mobile Browser for regular phones is still available. Standalone it's $10/month.
- None of the phones you listed have flash.

What would you like your phone to do for you? To me, it sounds like the Blackberry Bold 9000 might be fitting. Under $100 after your hardware upgrade credits applied, has flash, can support microSD expansions (1GB on-board).

Bell doesn't have the greatest selection of phones. They really need to work on this for the future.

I say ride out the 7 months (or at least till the olympics are over), then we should see some more selection.

If you can't wait, then I suggest a Palm Pre. It's easy and fun to use. :D

Make sure you get HSPA+ or world phone. Seems that Canada is joining the rest of the world and using SIM cards.

so do you just do your e-mail/Google?

well with the olympics on, surfing those sites that work (ctv's olympic site for mobile is all black and white -)... as well as surfing around trying to find compatible wallpapers and ringtones for free... i fire up google maps every so often and got ebuddy to work with msn messenger (I ain't paying Bell an extra 8 bucks a month!)...

if you know of any good apps that work with this phone or ones like it (not iphone or pre), i would love some suggestions.

has anyone tried watching the Olympics on their phone yet, via Bell?

I haven't as I don't know if my phone can handle it even though there is a TV & Radio app on the Impact (with a separate data charge (not covered by UMB) + an extra 8 bucks a month)...

If Youtube (videos launch in a separate player, hope it is still covered by UMB) can cause bell to cut off my internet briefly through the browser then trying to watch the olympics would kill it altogether.
