Hi there,

Today I went to Wind store to get Blackberry 9780 unlocked. They didn't want to do it, said to call support. Went back home, called Wind and tech guy gave me a code upon providing IMEI.
Tried it, didn't work. Tried again, same. Then I called Wind, got another tech on line and we repeated same procedure. She gave me same number. I said that it doesn't work and she got me 877-255-2377 RIMs support number suspecting that I am not doing it right. I called that number but I guess that is something for dealers only since it is asking for carrier code and ticket and don't know what.

What I am doing is listed on many sites how to unlock Blackberry:
enter MEPD
enter MEP2
enter code (89910149885xx for me)
press enter

Still I got errors and only 7 times to try left. Can anybody help??

Thank you,
Zack

Not sure of the specifics of Blackberrys..

It could be the Wind people screwing something up.
But when I called it to get an unlock code for a Nokia 5230, the first customer service person gave me a 14 digit number, and it didn't work for me. When I called back, and got another guy to do it, he gave me a 15 digit code and it worked. I think I had to add a 1 to the end of it.

Are you reading the IMEI off the phone or from the phone box? Sometimes phones get switched around in stores. To be sure i would check the IMEI on the phone with the box.

I read IMEI from the phone, three times. Box is long gone anyway.

I'm not sure if you have already solved your problem, but I had the same problem with a BB with Wind.

I called Wind back and they told me I will have to contact RIM directly as my device was asking for an MEP code. I haven't had a chance to contact RIM yet, but if your BB is asking for an MEP code, perhaps you should try the same.

I am with WIND but I did it myself for free though this company

http://www.freemyblackberry.com/unlockcode.php

The page here will explain how to figure out your MEP code but once you have, just send it to them and within 18 hours, they will sed u for free your BB unlock code, and tell you how to do it

And NO you CANNOT get this information from reading the box.
You need to follow the very easy instructions at the page i have listed, and they are different for each model phone so just go take a peek and you will easily get through it and properly......

its very easy

This company I believe ONLY handles Blackberrys but its all done for free.
No need to pay anyone anymore to do this for you.

That said?
I am not positive but seem to recall that if you do a google search for free unlock codes for Nokia, there is a site that does the same for Nokia phones, for free as well.
I am pretty sure i used one for my last nokia, a couple of years ago??!!

Zack

With 7 goes left I wouldnt screw around with it anymore with WIND. Just go to the page I have listed above f you havent unlocked it yet and follow the easy instructions there and that way when you do get your code you will only use ONE time, not seven and brick it :)
