It's funny noticing a couple negative comments on here, but I have to honestly say that we're extremely happy with Wind Mobile and so glad they're in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge area. In store reps and when calling couple times to customer service have been great.
I feel many of the issues lie with the fact people do not set Data to Off when Roaming on their phone or fail to understand that when they're Wind Away, they will have to pay 25 cents for roaming to make or receive a call while on rogers towers, etc. Then their upset when they receive a bill that's more then anticipated. Set Data to off when roaming and while you can receive texts for free, their is a charge to send text, use BBM, or make/receive a phone call in and Wind Away zone.
Wind Mobile's Home Coverage is now excellent in Kitchener/Waterloo & Cambridge. Having also travelled 401 to Toronto and QEW down to Niagara with excellent results. In addition to Oakville, Burlington, Stoney Creek and Hamilton, full coverage for Wind Home now in Guelph, St. Catharines, Welland and Niagara Falls. I understand Barrie is next and London is done?
For myself and most people that live in the City, this is perfect, unlimited calling and data.
WindTab+ gives you great opportunity to get some top notch phones for the same price as Bell and Rogers and still give you the chance to leave at any time with no contract, with the understanding you pay a certain price for phone, but then you own and they unlock it for you after 3 months.
No system access fee, 911 fee, etc. Just understand your plan, roaming and your set.
Love their strong commitment to expand and I'm so glad I can now afford a fully loaded smartphone.
ps. For those that go with WindTab+, after 1 yr promotional plan (currently Oh Canada), you'll have to then go to either the Brilliant or Genius plan or go to the next available promotional plan. This was the one thing I wasn't clear on initially. If not, you may be subject to pay difference of phone from WindTab to WindTab+.

I'm not a Wind customer but of the 3 new entrants, Wind appears to be the one most aggressively expanding their coverage. I hope it continues to grow to give the "big 3" something to keep them honest. I'm convinced many of the Wind/PM/Mobilicity haters are trolls from the Big 3 to spread FUD about the new entrants.

I agree Infinityguy, a couple friends have signed up as well and they're extremely happy. Wind Mobile even showed my wife in-store how to change options on her phone and so forth. Bell Store was empty when we walked by, while Wind store was busy.
It was funny that Mobilicity had an outage last night and someone was like so starts the decline of Mobilicity and Wind! Too funny, considering they're completely different and Wind mobile has not had any outages. Wind is definitely the one that's going to last, they've already spent a ton of money on infrastructure and continue to do so.
ps. Wind also has a 14 day / 30 minute free trial when you sign up. If your not happy with coverage, you return your phone no questions asked, no charge.

Negative word of mouth is more powerful than positive word of mouth, therefore most people who post online go to complain. It's a brand new network, and a brand new company (unlike the flankers from robellus posing as new entrants), so of course there will be bumps along the way.
I've been their customer almost since the start, and I'm very satisfied as well. I have a fully loaded plan that I get on pre-paid, and it charges a credit card at the start of the month. My bills are low, predictable, and transparent.

It's the typical way things work. For every upset customer there are 50 happy customers who just continue to enjoy their product/service and have no reason to seek out help or complain.

Yep. I've been a happy customer for a year and a half. No surprises, extra charges, or double-dealing. As a result of this experience, I've encouraged a few friends to switch over. They're happy too. So why would any of us happen to go to a forum to talk about that?
As for me, I'm just procrastinating today!

Right now their network is still rubbish for most (me included), so until that changes, they suck.

Thanks for your contribution to this thread Matty. If you would like to explain in more detail that would be great. Wind is quite clear on their coverage area and even then the indicated expansion areas surrounding a city are most often covered. Wind is perfect for those that live in the city where coverage is available.
They offer you 14 days/30mins of trying out the phone and coverage. We went everywhere in 7 days and ensured we were fine for the areas we'd mainly be in. It's clear that it's 25 cents a minute extra when your in a wind away zone and it's easy to switch data off when roaming. When I can pay $50 less a month then Rogers or Bell and receive unlimited minutes and data, I'm extremely happy!!! So what if I pay a few dollars extra a month for the odd roaming I incur. This isn't a plan for someone using their phone heavily in Wind Away zones.
Lastly, the majority of people in southwestern Ontario live in Wind Home Zones, so please don't say their network is not good for most, that's false.

Wind are seriously not interested in providing a decent cell phone sevice to Canadians, and are only interested in making a $.
They do the above by only providing a service in cities where the majority of Canadians live.
So, do not Telus and Bell have the same corporate philosophy, you might ask? - Rogers even :)
Sure they do, but these companies were there from the beginning, putting up towers (for all Canadians) when the going was tough - taking a chance that things would get better.
Wind have openly stated that they are only here to make a $ and have suggested that they might leave... if things do not get better for them in the future.

To say Wind only wants to make money? Hello they are not a charity or government run department. They are here to make money while providing a service customers want. They will gain more customers by continuing to improve their network.
Of course new cell providers will start in major cities first. This is no different from the incumbents or any other business that hopes to survive. Wind is actually expanding beyond the major cities to provide continuous coverage where most people would travel along. You fail to remember that Wind has been around for 1.5 years and the incumbents have had almost 30 years to build out their tower infrastructure and network.
As for the incumbents being around when the going was "tough", they weren't burdened with paying millions of dollars for spectrum licenses just for the right to start providing service. They were established companies already (Bell, Telus, Rogers/Cantel) and had the cash to start building up their networks.

You raise some good points IntinityGuy.
Hopefully 'Wind' will be able to assist us who work in the emergency services field (as Telus/Bell/Rogers do) with the loan of services, towers, equipment, etc)

I do beleive that Wind had helped most of us Canadians one way or another,
Because of Wind all others (Bell/Rogers/Telus) droped their prices.
2 years ago no one can even dream of having any unlimited plan, But now its all over just pick.
Thank you Wind keep up the good work.

yeah, I'm pretty happy with wind. I'm on the $29 unlimited calling, texting, and data. Data is kinda slow sometimes but its actually been more reliable than my home telus adsl line which has died for several days on two occasions. Thankfully I am able to tether with my Wind line through my nexus S. Pretty sweet. Great work, Wind! wow do I sound like a shill or what. And also the added competition has kept overall prices stable rather than inflating like crazy before Wind entered the market. I hope Wind, Mobilicity and Public Mobile are able to obtain sufficient financing or start merging with each other.

I just got myself a $40 Holiday Miracle plan with $20 a month unlimited South Korea calling. Prior to switching, I was with Rogers and I've been paying $75 for far less. Sure, their data speed is not as consistent as Rogers', but it's been adequate for me lately. Hard to complain when I get pretty much unlimited everything as long as I'm in their Home Zone.

Have none of you Wind fanboys had occasion to use Wind's so-called Customer Service? It's abysmal! They have no clue and don't give a damn.
A real deal-breaker, as far as I'm concerned.
It doesn't matter how many towers they build, until they do something about CS they really have no future in this country.

Is it as bad as when I call Bell Canada and end up with some clueless support person in India?

Laridae, I've spoken to several CSRs and I've been happy with their service. You will always run into a experience that isn't the best. I've dealt with Rogers and Bell in the past and they're certainly nothing to rave about, lol.

Its best to just go into the stores and get what you need. Its very fast and at the stores they have to have goof CSR since they want to gain market share in big locations like malls etc.

Thanks everyone for the great words of support!
Just to be clear, if you are looking for help with your phone or data stick, your best bet is to bring your device into one of our Warranty Centres.

Actually, when I was with Telus, I was calling CS almost every month, and I was once on the phone with CS for FOUR hours! Not on hold, but actually trying to communicate with a person. They refused to do anything I asked them for, and it was difficult to even find out what times calls were coming and going through.
When I was having problems with WIND though, CS helped solve the problem in about 30 minutes. Maybe I was always unlucky with Telus, but in my personal experience, WIND had the better CS.
