Hey guys,

I was checking out gsmworld.com and I noticed that there's a spot under Rogers listed as "3G 1700mhz." There's no status next to it, though (as in 'live' or 'planned') So...anybody know anything about this? It's the same as the listing under Wind Mobile; "3G 1700mhz." Does Rogers have some secret plan to launch an AWS network, or is gsmworld.com just crazy?

Here's the link:

Rogers did buy some of that spectrum and they have to use it or lose it. Rogers on AWS would be really nice actually. That way you could actually have options. Pop in a Mobilicity or Wind sim and have a new phone number. I thought that all carriers going HSPA would bring out more paygo plans but it hasn't. The carriers have chosen to not allow paygo on their Sims nullifying any benefit that GSM provides. Way to fail again Canada :P

As of today, Google has released in Canada TWO versions of its Nexus One phone: one for the WIND Mobile network, and one that will run on Rogers' 3G network (or on Telus/Bell). If you use a T-Mobile Nexus One on the Rogers network you will only get 2G / EDGE speed.
