I've been scouring the internet, but can't seem to find any real info on either of those phones besides that the GS3 will most likely be powered by Samsung's new 2GHz dual core chip.
Regarding the S2 LTE HD, I know the specs are out, but any word on North American release?
Has anyone come across anything?

As of right now, there hasn't been much say about GS3 or S2 LTE HD release dates, mostly because Samsung will want to gain some profit selling their current phones such as the Galaxy Nexus (they don't want people holding off on buying the phone if they know another phone will come within a few months after).
From leaked specs (http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_ii_hd_lte-4198.php) of the LTE HD, it's not a considerable difference spec wise. It's basically a GS2 with the screen of the Galaxy Nexus. I expect the phone will probably be out around early to mid Q2 latest, looking at the current rate that new phones are coming out.

Wait till the Mobile Congress 2012 on February 27th , most phone manufacturers will unveil their upcoming models there. Also its gonna be interesting what Samsung will put into the GSIII since iphone 5 is rumored to be out around the same time, wondering if its gonna be a dual or quad core cpu inside.

It will probably house the Exynos 5250 2GHz Dual-Core that Samsung just announced. I remember reading that they will start production of that chip in March, which falls nicely into the time window of the Mobile Congress.

I was thinking gsIII when Samsung announced the Exynos 5250 , but how do you market that dual core CPU against a quad core Tegra 3. Lot of people won't know that a higher clocked dual core is better than a lower clocked quad core , since no phone OS fully optimizes dual core CPU , let alone a quad core. But once ppl see 4 cores instead of 2 they will assume , more is better.
So I'm wondering if Samsung will repeat the same thing they did with gsII and release few different versions like they did with galaxy II X, galaxy sII LTE , which use qualcom chips, so they might release it in some regions with a tegra 3 CPU.

It was always my interpretation that the reason for the different variants among carriers/countries for cellphones was because the carriers wanted them that way.
For example, the Samsung Galaxy S (first gen). Rogers had the Captivate, Telus the Fascinate and Bell the Vibrant. All were essentially the same phone with slight body and hardware modifications (such as button placement and if the device had a front facing cam or not).
Now you have the Samsung Galaxy S II with the same thing, Bell in Canada had the same version as the international version. Then Rogers had the one up with it being LTE, larger screen and battery, no physical home button but all touch and slightly faster processor. Finally Telus chimed in with their own version of the SGS II the Hercules aka Samsung Galaxy S II X. Now Bell will also have the LTE version, and of course the Galaxy Nexus is out. Ugh, just typing about it is making me tired. heheh
Since the SGS II HD LTE is taking so long to come to North America (why not just look for it online? Suuure it's going to cost more than an iPad..but..hey, you'll be the only one on your block with one ;)

Given the timing of all these new devices on the horizon, I think Samsung may decide to focus their efforts on marketing the GSII LTE HD just in Korea.
HTC and Apple are already gearing up to announce their new phones next year, and simply putting an HD screen on last year's model isn't going to cut it for Samsung. I'm sure they're going to place all their international emphasis on the SIII, which ought to feature many more significant improvements.
kintamanate, where did you hear that the SII LTE would be coming to Bell? I'm pretty sure that Best Buy flyer posted on Nov. 5th was a misprint. Since Bell got the LG Optimus LTE instead, Rogers may have gotten exclusivity for the SII LTE. But that's just my thought.
Looking forward to learning more about the SIII next year, though. While I'm 90% sure I'm settling for the Galaxy Nexus, I might considering upgrading to the SIII in 12-18 month's time if the change is significant enough. And if Samsung plays their marketing cards right and time the release date properly it could end up receiving the coveted title of "iPhone 5 killer".

Machina, that was my initial source for the LTE version going to Bell. I guess it indeed was a misprint. *shakes fist at BestBuy*.
I found this little link on Wikipedia the last night which details all the variants available of the SGS II http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II
