Which is better and why? Nexus has had tones of hype but the note is big and powerful also.

Nexus IMO. I think the note is too large, by far. Plus ICS off the bat without extrs is real nice.

Not sure what you mean by better , but if you compare them hardware wise the Note is 95% the same as the galaxy s ii with addition of the bigger screen. So the Note is better in that comparison, since it has better gpu, faster cpu, better camera and bigger battery. The screens have a minor difference in resolution the nexus has 1280 x 720 and note has 1280 x 800 and both are using the super amoled HD(pentile matrix) version of the screen. Software wise the nexus wins since its runing the latest android, but updates for the galaxy line of phones to android 4.0 are gonna get released in april/may.

After playing with the note and using the s-pen my doubts of the huge screen are gone. The phone is super thin and that makes it much easier to hold. I found that the note fit nicely in my hand, and if you have small hands it might be little awkward in the beginning to use , but you get used to it after a while. If you do a lot of web browsing and movie watching i would get the note.

You can compare the specs of the two phones and read some reviews

Software wise - it is clear that GNex takes the win. What matters is hw/physical specs I think.
GNex is large, but the GNote is plain huge. It is not possible to use it with one hand due to the size. GNote has 8MP camera comared to 5 on the GNex and has the newer Mali400 graphics chip. CPU is also clocked higher - 1.4 v.s 1.2 on the pure Google one. GNote has SD card slot wich Nexus lacks (argh!!!)
If you don't mind carrying around tablet sized device go with the GNote. If you prefer the more curvy and slicker design (and of course if you can't wait for ICS to become available for GNote) - Galaxy Nexus is the way to go.

I disagree the Note is 2 large, but I love the "pure" Google GNex. I currently have a Nexus S but I am interested in the Note. If I sell the Nexus S I'm debating both. They both have solid specs but really like that the Nexus series gets timely OTA updates. I don't even mind the non SD card since I use the cloud a lot.
Hhhmmm....

You have to be careful looking for the pure Google experience though. Turns out the nexus on Verizon in the states won't have Google Wallet...

jayjay, if you're holding out for a phone that hasn't been released in Canada yet (Samsung Note), then why not wait for the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE (I know, a mouthfuls of a name lol). It's on par with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, however it has an 8mp camera (like the SII), better CPU, internal storage plus removable storage, better front facing cam, and a better (stronger) battery.
While it doesn't come with ICS out of the box, it's silly to say it can't handle it handle it since it's got a stronger processor than the Nexus.

Here's a comparison of the two Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE:

Yeah don't get lost in that " if I wait something better will come out ", than you might as well wait till Samsung galaxy s III comes out in may/June , I'm sure it will be better than any phone out right now. I would try out both phones at a big retail store and see which one I like better, once the note comes out in canada early next year.

Hardware-wise, the Note is really appealing! It's just so darn massive it's more like a mini-tablet than a phone! The Galaxy Nexus is pushing the limits on screen size; I think 5" is excessive. If they created a "Note Mini" perhaps :p.

But yeah, I'm quite certain that the SIII will trump both devices, and then the S4 will once again trump those in 2013. ;)

Isn't that what they said about 4"? And now people are content with sporting 4.3 (SGS II) and 4.65 (Galaxy Nexus / SGSII HD LTE) ;):p

4.65" is big, but i don't think it's to big.. it feels very comfortable in the hands. doesn't feel to cheap either.. in my opinion anyways, some have found it to feel cheap, but to each his own..

i really enjoy that phone, i think so far it is the best phone, and i know an other phone will soon come out that will best this one, but i am very happy with it and i will whine that i have an inferior phone when the time comes lol.

Well said. It is only pushing the limits until it becomes generally accepted, then they call it the standard. I don't know screen sizes are going to keep getting bigger or start to pull back, but I'm going to keep an open mind until I try it out.

well at first it was who can get it smallest, because the needs back then were not the same as now...
after came the need to text, so keyboards were the "it" thing
then came web browsing, so the need to pull larger screens, and this is where we are at... how big is to big for a phone.

i think or i would like to think the next thing because of LTE now coming out, phones won't get smaller, but thinner.. and hopefully better battery life but who are we kidding, the entire history of cell phones has been an issue with battery life. and before you go say bb's last 3 days before charging it, you're not playing games on it or streaming

so let's see what the future brings. am i way off or do you think i could be on to something? bring on the posts
