Any help would be much appreciated.
I didn't want to hijack "flyinghi's" thread as I am in a similar situation, but I have narrowed it down to a few options.
My contract with Rogers has expired and I'm shopping around. I would eventually like to end up with a Nexus One or, at the very least, and Android-running phone.
1st option:
Get the Nexus from a buddy in the U.S. & go with Wind.
What's keeping me from doing this is the word on the street about Wind's service being pretty shoddy right now. Is anybody with Wind that can shed some light? I know in time it'll improve but having a smartphone with a gimped service might be a frustrating experience. There's also the Wind/Google to get Google to open up their store to Canadians.
2nd option:
Get the Galaxy (running 1.5 ATM) with Bell on a 3-year term with the hopes that Google makes a fully-compatible version of the Nexus on the Bell band.
What's keeping from going with this option is the fact that I'm settling on the hope that a Bell-compatible Nexus is in the pipeline. The actual phone/data plan from Bell is amazing but I'm iffy about staying with a (somewhat) already dated Android OS for 3 years. Even more iffy if Bell doesn't pull through with any OS update.
3rd option:
Sit on the fence for the next few months and wait for DAVE, and the responses from Wind, Bell, Telus, Rogers, as well as Google Nexus news (Nexus Two, Nexus One versions)
The problem with waiting is that my current Rogers plan is just voice, and sometimes the monthly bill runs at about $60-70 (texts/roaming.) The sooner I cut them off the better.
Any thoughts or suggestions? What would you guys/girls go with? (keeping in mind that you have a pricey voice-only plan)
