So I pre ordered the Galaxy Nexus through Virgin Mobile.

I picked the $25 plan
-100 min
-Unlim text
-Caller ID
-Flex Data ($0 - $30, 0MB - 3GB)

+ Unlimited incoming for free (offered since I get this + more with fido)

No contract. Paid $450+tax for the phone ($200 on the supertab)

Is this a good deal ?
Is there any thing I should know about Virgin ?? (surprise charges ect)

I will probably use the phone with my fido sim and give this plan to my sister.

What's a good cheap phone (with a full keyboard) that works with Virgin?

Do I have to pay for a new SIM ? Do they have any extra fees ? (like activation charges) so I can use this plan with a new cheap phone.

Its better than their standard 25, so good on you for that. Galaxy 551 is 150 or so. Been selling pretty well for me. You can just swap in the sim they send you with the Nexus into another (but generally replacement sims cost nothing for members, at least we never charge). Have to be honest, not sure why you went this route. Considering the cost of a decent slider youre not saving much. You wouldve been better off signing data to a three year and cancelling it.

Really ? What would the cancellation fee be if I signed a 3year contract on the $50 smartphone plan ?? (cheapest plan they had for 3year contract)

I should explain. Sign a three year voice and data 50 plus, switch to voice only plan (thus cancelling data), cost of that is 200. But on a supertab they charge the tab.

So I pay $160 for the phone. Then $200 data cancellation fee to switch to voice only plan.

But I am still stuck with a 3 year contract on the voice plan right ? This would have a cancellation fee too right ?

Plus they prolly wouldn't give me unlimited incoming if I switched the plans.

However, paying $450 does leave me with a $200 tab....

I'm not sure. I still need the line either way, however I don't want to be stuck with a contract....

This phone should have been $530 full price like the last nexus.....

Just offering an alternate scenario. I like smart phones with voice only on the tab. IMO it makes sense to sign up for voice only to get the 200 tab and then switch to the data pln. Pay that off in no time. Personally I had 150 on the tab. Six months Ive got 100 left. 18 months isnt bad at all. Pay more for the phone, but it is worth it, being ble to leave much earlier or even start collecting credits.

So switch from a $25 voice plan with free unlimited incoming to a $50 plan with data just to pay off the tab faster by $2.50 ???

I had thought you found a way around the system so I pay less lol

I still have flex data with my plan which imho is very good. 25mb $5 / 100mb $10 perfect for emails. 300mb $15 covers surfing. $20 500mb more than enough lol

I'm usually connected to my 24mbps wifi anyway.

Those are crazy high prices for data, your 500mb price is almost half of my actual plan (Telus).

you have to remember that the 25$ extra that you are paying a month if you get a data plan (50$ minimum) on a 3 year plan is 900$

so you save 450 on these 3 years if you do not get the data plan

on the other hand, if you plan to use the flexi data often youhave to evaluate how much you will save (if you end up paying 10-15$ each month then all the savings you did vanished and you are better off with the 50$ plan)

hope this helps
