I'm thinking about switching from Bell but am very skeptical. The "zones" are not big enough for me yet and I don't want to get charged for roaming

Service has been reliable in the majority of the "home zones", so I hear. But judging from that Calgary home zone, there's still big gaps that you'll likely end up paying for.

same here i live right on the fringe in Richmond hill and work right on the fringe in stoney Creek, Hamilton, can't help but think I will be charged for roaming.
Good plans if you work eat and play in toronto, but not so good for mobile people.

agree. For me to switch it would have to be a really good deal and not be concerned with out of area reach

good interview with Lacavera. No tab system and he knows they are having problems. It's cool that they admit it. Is 5k subs good?

I recently buy 2 phones from Wind. Plans are great and cannot be compared to other providers but the key issue is connectivity. My phone lying on my table sometimes goes to Wind Away and sometime find its signal says Wind Home. In our house, at one end goes roaming and other OK. In Walmart, cannot talk to my wife due to signal issue. Wind sales person are ***uring me will be corrected but don't know what exactly isssue and when will be fixed. I am paying for half day on average no signal n works sometimes.

One tip for not going to roaming & save roaming charges. Pls. goto your phone Advance setting --> Network --> Default setup and set to manual. This will keep your phone away from roaming and unnecessary bills. Its strange you will be in Wind zone but still shows roaming!!!.

that saves some stress. BTW, my friend just got WIND and it cuts out like it's from the 80's. When I call her the ringers is ringer is weird. It doesn't ring like a normal phone, sounds like something from overseas

All is know is that they better bring on better phones, beyond the N900 and Nexus. Alot of customers to become profitable

blah wind. I liked them better when they were not available in Canada. Much more enthusiasm then. Now it just feels like they are defending themselves :(

^ not happy??? give them a few months then move over. You'll probably end up going back to your previous carrier though. Relaibility is key. :)

looks like they have a way to go before they are a solid reliable network, to bad, i guess this is what happens when they open before they are ready, still hope to switch some time when they get it together.
Thanks for all the coments

just as important they have to expand the boundries,Richmondhill and stoney creek are half covered and it figures i live in rH and work in SC.

This is why it's hard for me to switch to wind. Boundries are so limited, you can't go anywhere with your phone. They need more phones and coverage, then they'll be considered a contender.

I recently spoke to a Wind employee at the Pickering Town Center and he told me their network is very unreliable in the Durham Region. I've also read a lot of complaints on their site about their service. This is why I'm waiting for Mobilicity to launch in Toronto

FYI: If your in an WIND home area and you lose signal and you drop to or connect to WIND Away. Nobody will call you and you won't receive texts.

I don't know why but I just noticed this alot of people have been complaining that I am not getting their calls and stuff.

It happened to me around Whitby.

Actually I don't think its their fault but a simple reboot of the phone seemed to work and all was saved lol.

The only thing I am mad about with WIND at the moment is the F&F deal that I couldn't take advantage of cause I signed up a week too early :(

FYI, maybe that was true in 2009, but in July 2010 in Vancouver, Wind does not disable roaming in their mapped home zone as some people say they do. If you don’t get Wind reception, then you flip to away zone and you incur any charges.

Beware!
