From reviews i have seen it seems like an alright device. Was thinking of testing it out. Why you say its a bad device. What to see what you say before i waste money and try it out.

it seems that when it was completely crippled it turned into a bad device.

Worse phone ever!!

Unless you explain the issues you are experiencing, we will not know if the phone is a dud, has a carrier issue or if you are just plain unhappy that it is not an iphone clone.
I have many friends with the Instinct who are extremely pleased with it's functions and performance :)

it seems that when it was completely crippled it turned into a bad device.

The only item that I found crippled was the email capabilities. I understood that email from a POP3 account would be active, only to find out after the launch that only hotmail can be retrieved and only if you subscribed to Messenger Live for an additional $8 a month (my carrier).
This was never a big deal as the phone was toted / advertised as a big toy for big boys and girls and not a productivity unit.
For those looking for an phone similiar to the iphone with online apps may wish to purhcase the Storm with the comming launch BB's app store in March or the Palm Pre, if it indeed comes to Canada.

What I find common with the majority of my customers is the lack of properly researching their phone of interest. Too many tend to buy the glitter rather than look at the functionality, although this may not be the case here.

I no longer explain to a potential customer that they're buying a cell phone but rather a computer with the ability to make a call. The difference between one computer and another with the same pricing may be one has a DVD burner vs the other with just a DVD player.
You need to research the features you are most interested in and then look at what phones offer those features.

There are a number of tools available on the web to do your research with including forums such as this one with all it's knowledgeable members, http://mobilesyrup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51 is a prime example of this :)

I have been in the industry for close to two decades and the first paragraph has held true since the beginning.

Respectfully
Chuck

Well said Chuck... depending on the phone it can add up to being a big purchase, probably the average bill comes in around 3-4k when all said and done over a 3-year contract

Interesting link that was sent into us via e-mail. Video response of an unsatisfied Instinct owner:

Thank you John for that link :)

Livesuperman did indeed do his homework prior to purchasing of the instinct. But advertised misleading statements made this situation what it is today.

I read what Bell had to say about the unit at time of launch and took that with a grain of salt before selling any units. Knowing the hardware before selling to a customer keeps my customer base happy.
However how does a consumer determine what is truth and what is fiction with advertised materials prior to purchase unless that person has the ability or time to go to a retail location to have his/her questions honestly answered by a knowledgeable and reputable sales staff.

A statement I made in a previous post:
This was never a big deal as the phone was toted / advertised as a big toy for big boys and girls and not a productivity unit. was how my carrier advertised this unit thankfully.

I do hope it all turns out well for Livesuperman.

I think you should have done as chuck said, and research first

The issue I have, is that almost all reviews of a certain phone are based on the Verison version and Bell uses those reviews to push their version of the phone, which has many features either disabled or you have to pay extra in order to use said features.

The new instinct is getting okay reviews...I wouldn't buy one myself, but the S60 looks nicer...the fit and finish are top notch. Especially compared to the first gen Instinct.

Isn't the S30 alot smaller though, typing would be harder.

engadget has a vid:

No, the s30 is almost the exact same size...they just streamlines the corners to be more round and now there isn't as awkward a transition from the front part of the phone to the back.

The stainless steel accent blends the two parts better.

In my opinion, for the average user, the new Instinct is a 8.5/10. The old one was about a 4.

As I said before though, i still wouldn't ever buy one.
