Hello. I'll be switching to Mobi soon but they don't have any phones that interest me... going for a superphone (Samsung or HTC).
I'm looking to buy from the USA and T-Mobile seems to be somewhat compatible (AWS).
As long as the bands are the same (1700, 2100), will T-Mobile (USA) phones operate up here in Canada?
Thanks

Any T-mobile phone should fully work on wind and mobilicity , voice and data. Now some T-mobile phones might also work on the big three carriers for voice only , since their 3g data is different than the 1700/2100 bands that tmobile, wind and mobilicity phones have. The galaxy s 2 from tmobile looks like a nice phone.

Hey thanks for your comments...I feel more confident buying from the USA now :)
Deciding on the Samsung Galaxy S II or HTC Amaze. Hope the update codes for Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 will be available for these smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus ICS 4.0 is tempting but is too pricey

Actually the Nexus should be around the same price as the Amaze ore SII and those phones should work everywhere

That would be a nice surprise but very unlikely. I'm thinking the retail price will be around $800.

Question: If the T-Mobile (USA) device is locked, do I have to unlock it for it to work up here?
I believe the band frequency is the same as Mobilicity.
Thanks

If the device is simlocked than most likely it will have to be unlocked, to get an unlock code you can use a site like cellunlocker or any other one that u find. I got my unlock code in 40 minutes and it cost me $20. if you do go with cellunlocker they have a promotion where if you make a guide on how you unlock your device and post it on YouTube, they might refund your full amount or minimum 50% of what you paid , its based on which phone you unlock. If you go to the site it will explain everything.
