hi, i recently bought a new iphone 4s on contract from sasktel. i live in saskatchewan but work in manitoba. there is one tower where i live and one tower in the city i work in 20 kms away. i had been using a samsung instinct cdma phone the last few years so the iphone is my first smartphone and first time using a 3g phone.
i work in an industrial setting and the mts tower is actually located on my work site. i have always been able to use my phone at work inside various buildings of concrete, metal and wooden structures with no trouble with picking up reception. i texted and did what limited internet surfing i could do with my last phone while at work with no problems at all.
to my dismay the first time i took my iphone to work this past week i discovered that i get no signal inside the building where i work. i get one bar in certain spots and none in most others making my phone pretty much useless at work unless i go outside. i am always within at least 500 ft of the tower as well.
i dont need heavy data usage while i am at work but being able to check email and receive texts is important. i do know a guy with an iphone from mts that can stream netflix while at work and there is no problem with blackberries anywhere else in the plant that i know of.
i am not sure if i have any options or not. Would a samsung galaxy s2 have the same issues? Is it a sasktel roaming issue with mts? Should i just get a phone from mts instead? (the girlfriend lives and works in SK so using sasktel does make sense). sorry to ramble on so long, i appreciate any help or responses i make get.
