Apparently the actual .kdz file is inaccessible at the moment... but chances are it will be soon!

When i used the LGUpdate tool to try to update ,it sees that there is an update but there is a fatal error that is generated at the download step. When calling LG support to inquire about this error, they ask you to reinstall your software or to go to koodo. Never seen a support service as bad as that.

The long and short of it is as follows. The update tool queries the following URL:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=<Your phone's MEID>
which responds with some XML data. Part of that XML data is the latest version, and a link to download that KDZ file:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500H/AKDORB/V20a_00/V20A_00.kdz
However, that link is currently giving an access denied. So the update tool can't actually get the update data from LG, and hence the error.
Once you actually can download a KDZ from that link, it should work properly.

UPDATE:
We will see it VERY soon. Telus has just released the update for their version, it is at
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500H/ATLSRB/V20a_00/V20A_00.kdz
It will probably work for us koodo folk, but your phone will now be branded Telus.
Either way, it should come out of the pipe VERY soon!

I updated my phone today from Telus. Having one issue when I call someone I can't hear them. When someone calls me the phone works fine, but when I make a call it doesn't. Hope there's a fix out there!

I updated my Koodo Optimus One last night-took about 10 minutes. Phone is working fine-no noticable reduction in battery life so far.

Agreed- I haven't noticed any major issues either (so far).

I'm kind of lost following Telus' instructions and found no steps to follow in this thread. I ran the LGMobile Update tool and booted the phone into Emergency Mode (only way for this tool to see the phone), I click start update and then another screen pops up and said can't see my phone. What are you guys doing with the KDZ file?
Another question, I bought the phone from Koodo, but I am using it with Telus now, which ROM should I update to or doesn't matter?
P.S. I'm using custom 2.3.7 ROM right now from XDA, but want to switch back t stock GB.
TIA

I went from stock froyo to official koodo GB.
Ran the LGmobile update tool, it told me an update was available, and it was basically following the on-screen instructions from there.
the tool will boot the phone in emergency mode for you, there is no need to do that before hand.
Since you're already using a custom ROM, that might compound the issue.
There is a KDZ flashing tool available, try the steps in post #8 here:
http://androidforums.com/optimus-one-support-troubleshooting/237642-bricked-lg-optimus-one-help.html#post2064852
using the KDZ I linked in my posts above.
I suspect you could use either the telus or koodo firmware, only difference is that one will show "koodo" and the other "telus" when on a telus network. Same with the logo that appears on start-up.

I flashed the Koodo 2.3 update, it gave some weird code that I wasn't sure what it was. When I boot up, it stuck at the ANDROID booting screen. I took out the battery and thought I would flash it to Telus 2.3 update instead. This time didn't even get half way and spat out an error. When I try again, it wouldn't even start flashing. Couldn't get out of the Emergency mode either so I took out the battery. Put the battery back in and now won't even power on. Went from a working phone to a dead brick in a few minutes, good thing I got this for cheap ><

There's a couple of ways you can try unbricking the phone, google is your friend :)
What's more, if you're still in warranty, chances are you can get it fixed for free.

Tried a few things already, phone is COMPLETELY dead. Called Koodo and they said the phone is no longer in warranty since i'm no longer a customer.

You should contact LG - they provide the warranty, not Koodo. They also provided the update that bricked your phone.
Edit: Since it bricked while flashing an update, chances are there's no evidence that you'd previously installed unsupported firmware... so if you're still within 1 year, LG should repair it for you.

LG phone support basically told me to go to Koodo store and they will send it in for repair. If they don't take it, might have to pay Telus to send it in for repair.

ouch, that sucks. Did you tell them Koodo wont? Seems like BS, since the phone comes with a HW warranty that is not dependent on your service at all.

Went to both stores today and both won't accept repair without receipt, which I can't find after I moved. Oh well~

When I try updating my P500H on Koodo through the LG update suite it tells me I have the latest version even though my phone is still running 2.2.1
Any ideas what to do?
vintagepc

Don't use PC suite for the update.
Instead, go here:
http://www.lg.com/ca_en/support/mc-support/mobile-phone-support.jsp
and enter your model # (LGP500H). It will tell you an update is available. Download the update client from that page, and run that.
(PC suite will launch the same thing when it informs you there is an update).
That should get you on track with 2.3.3
If not, let me know and we can check some phone details to verify there is indeed an update for your phone.

Yeah I am using the update thingy from that page.
It still says I'm on the latest version.
Its an LG P500H on Koodo.
Android Version 2.2.1
Software Version V10v
It is a "loaner" phone so maybe they have it locked so i can't update it?
Or is it out in every canadian province? because I'm in NewBrunswick and it seems like we always get things last here.

What do you see if you visit the following URL?

I get this:
2 3540460492***** LGP500H AKLDRB1 106KPCA928323 20110615 GLOBAL/GLOBAL N N
I removed the last 5 digits of my IEMI # and put the *'s there.

I suspect your phone's MEID might not be properly registered. Right after LGP500H, it should say "AKDORB", which is koodo's provider code. Yours is for a different provider - likely because, as you say, it is a loaner phone.
For mine, right before GLOBAL/GLOBAL, it gives the latest software version and the link to obtain it, per:
V20A_00 http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500H/AKDORB/V20a_00/V20A_00.kdz http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500H/AKDORB/V20a_00/V20A_00.kdz
You can either go talk to your local koodo rep, or get the KDZ from the link above and use a recovery tool or so to flash it. That might throw your damage deposit out the window, though.

I am thinking of updating my Koodo Optimus one to the latest update but have heard from a relative that hers occasionally freezes after the update and needs a reboot. Anybody else have any issues (of any kind) after the update ?

Just updated my koodo optimus one to 2.3.3 and man what a speed difference, this thing flies now! Every app just opens at the smallest tap, unlike before with froyo where it was hit and miss,,thing is sailing and internet is so much faster especially since I also added opera for browsing! Thanks op,should have upgraded along time ago if I would have known it was this easy!
