Is it possible to pay for Android Market items using a Visa gift card?

This is my first Android phone and would like to purchase some Market items but refuse to give out my actual Visa - been burned once.

I would think that a visa gift card should work. I know that google makes and effort for gift cards to work, but not all will work so you'll probably just have to try it out and see if the transactions gets processed.

Do you not use your actual visa for online purchasing at all or is it just a bad experience with google you've had in the past? As long as you're going through the secure google site and using a computer infested with trojans it really is rather safe.

Ive bought every single android market app i have using a prepaid visa gift card. you have to be sure to register the visa card online though using the instructions that come with the visa first. usually these are found on the back of the card or on the card board packaging its glued to. this allows you to add the name/address and stuff necessary to add it to your google account so it works. then buy apps till it runs out. the one thing to be ready for from my experience is that the first app will charge you a 1-2$ (one card was even a little more) extra as a kind of pre-authorization kind of fee that will get refunded after 7-10 days or so..
Just a heads up about that as it freaked me out the first time :)

Another option just poped up for market payment and its PayPal, at least you are not giving your card directly.
