“We’re making these changes in response to customer feedback and to provide customers with additional value.
These new plans come into effect on Oct. 5 for new customers. Existing customers can choose if they want to remain on their existing plans or take advantage of the new ones.

There are three main changes:
1) New customers (or existing customers who choose to migrate to the new billing plans) will benefit from three services that will now be included in their plans: Call Forwarding, Call Manager and WhoCalled.

2) The total price that customers on new plans will pay will be about the same. The exact amount of this difference varies depending on where customers live based on government charges in their area. In return, new and eligible customers will receive $11 worth of services with Call Forwarding, Call Manager and WhoCalled included in the total price of their bills.

3) Customers on the new rate plan will not see a System Access Fee on their bills. They will see a Government Regulatory Recovery Fee. This fee will vary based on government fees where customers live. This fee doesn’t represent new charges, but we’re indicating the total costs that go to government in order to make our bills easier to understand.

The three additional features included in new plans are:
- Call Forwarding $3 value Forward your calls to another phone and never miss a call again
- WhoCalled $3 value: Always know when someone has attempted to call you
- Call Manager $5 value (for Shared/Pooled Plans) Provides complete flexibility in setting up control over how the phone is used

We have been told that the “The Government Regulatory Recovery Fee ranges from between $2.52 and $3.49/line/month, depending on whether provincial 911 fees are applicable.”

i really wish MobileSyrup would cite their sources. this was originally posted on HowardForums http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1572219 at 11am, not 3pm when MobileSyrup posted the story.

^ thanks live_strong for the message.

Our source was directly from Rogers, not from HoFo. Actually @RogersRob. We put the info in exactly how it was sent to us from the e-mail we received. A number of sites received the same e-mail

So they just increased the monthly plan instead, so there arn't any true savings at all!

Ah well. I's an incumbent, what do you expect?

The example given was ridiculous...you would pay 13cents more in BC...

Rogers, do you actually think people are that stupid?!

Sadly, Yes.

Even worse, they're right. There are plenty of people out there who never look before they leap.

OMG...This is just so hilarious. Lets take a look at this a bit closer, to understand the kind of savings you can expect from Rogers.

“We’re making these changes in response to customer feedback and to provide customers with additional value.

Okay lets break it down now (example). So as of right now heres what you can get.
EXAMPLE: (For the SE C905, just cause i kinda want that phone)
Now: $25 - Mega Value Plan
$15 - Value package (includes: Call Display with Name display, enhanced voicemail, 1,000 message bundle, unlimited mobile browsing, who called and mobile backup)
$6.95 - SAF (System Access Fee)
$0.75 - 911 fee
TOTAL: $47.70/month (before tax)

Now as of October 5th with all these new pricing "strategies":
$30.00 - Mega Value Plan (which used to be $25.00)
$15.00 - Value Package (which includes everything except the "who called" add-on, that is already included as part of the GRRF Fee)
$2.58 - GFFR Fee (Im in BC)
TOTAL: $47.58/month (before tax)

OMG!!! - Thats an amazing savings of $0.12 a month, which is an absolute savings of $1.44 a year from the plans as of now. Thats Rogers for ya, always putting the customer first and always saving you money.
Give me a break'.....

but they have the iPhone and Android devices! I'm surprised there is not a fee for that

Apple: "there's an app for that"
Rogers: "there's a fee for that"

Now that is funny.

In the end it will be about some bean counter who has figured out how to make more money and not about the customer. It is just another money grab. In the long run, there is no way we will see any savings.

even with that "example" it shows an increase, but they throw in some services as added value that probably nobody wants

Agreed, i asked to have who called disabled. It is a horribly annoying feature.

Even if those services are not what people want, it's kinda worse to tell them what they are going to get, rather than have the customer choose a service they would use.

If WIND makes it through the CRTC hearing. It would seem that they change their story while they speak from listening to the audio clips...Doesn't sound good for them.

Price is exactly the same...

Before they had like $25 plan.. + $6.95 & $0.50

now price for same plan would be $30 + $2.30 or whatever the GRRF is for your area.

So it ends up costing the same.. maybe 10-30 cents less. Thanks Rogers.
