I got an htc legend back last year from bell, and i knew at the time it was getting discontinued, but didnt really realize how thatd mean no more updates...so i am grateful it got the 2.2 so i can move apps to sd card, but its pretty sad to know its never getting another update again.

That being said, im seriously thinking about trading it in (i think i can get about $100 for it) and buying a new phone. Cus im thinking that a year from now, its gonna be so old and out of date.

Opinions?

I think that swapping a Smartphone out (every 1 or 2 years) is an utter and complete waste of money. Considering the cost, what exactly will your new phone do, that the old one will not, and at what price?

An HTC Legend you say,... is a dinosaur. I am wondering exactly how many cell phone archaeologists will be attracted to that :)

Although I am sure that my opinion is not one that you wanted to hear, please remember that you did ask for it :D

the HTC legend is a dinasour if you talking in cellphone terms , since its been out for like 2 years , and that in the cellphone world is very long time. Also if u can get $100 for the phone I would totally do it , I'm not sure what your budget is but you can add extra $100-200 and you can get a decent phone. The legend is running an old 600 MHz CPU , any newer phone tuning at least 1 GHz would be an improvement in lot of areas like internet, games, watching movies...

Well in swapping out my phone (i want an iphone 4, no hate please) id be able to take screenshots, the sms would be a lot more stable (im not too happy with my messaging) fb app would be waaaay better, facetime, imessaging (my plan doesnt include picture or video), excellent video recording (htc legend video is crappy) and i expect just overall stability. my phone is just too buggy and there are lil things that really annoy me.

No hate from me (for sure :) - I have often seriously considered purchasing an iPhone 4 myself. If you are sure that you can handle the cost, I would advise to just do your best research, before you (carefully) make your final decision.

I would also advise to do what you can, to shorten the length of time, of any contract, that you may need to sign, in order to get your hands on it.

I have the HTC Legend as well, and I know what you mean!

I use my phone pretty much for everything from Gmail (School, G+, Forum updates, and basic emailing), Design (color codes), Entertainment in bed (Netflix, news, etc), GPS (When I'm lost), Games (Emulators and other Marketplace gaming), Text messages, Calling, PDF Books and so forth. My phone has also become a complete wreck with my screen starting to not tap as well, and the back piece-battery holder-thingy doesn't stay in place anymore and whenever it's out I lose signal.

$108?! That's a great price to get for it, I bought my HTC Legend for $120 actually, so that's a pretty good pay. :)

I kind of see why you want the iPhone 4 since the HTC did have a lot... A LOT of stability problems. I'm always curious to see if the newer Android phones work a lot better then the Legend.. I'm looking forward for the HTC Raider and I really like the Samsung Galaxy S2 that's already out.

I wish you luck!
