View Full Version : Wind Refuses Repeatedly to Port Out Number

I've been trying since Tuesday to port out my Wind number to 7-Eleven Speakout and Wind has denied the request twice.
The first time SpeakOut was told the IMEI number was wrong. (unlikely since I read it to them directly from the phone)
The second time SpeakOut was told the Account Number was wrong.
I then called Wind and verified that the Account was open and in good standing and the Account Number was correct. No explanation was given for the refusals.
They then tried to pass me to the back office but the connection was lost.
I then repeated my request for porting out by email feedback but I don't feel confident that this will be done.
Has anyone else had trouble porting a number out of Wind?

Wind is ****, thank God you are leaving. Ive encountered the same issues, luckily for me, Bell or Virgin takes very good care of these problems. Most ports are instant, Wind always takes over an hour.

My greatest "fun" experiance was porting a wind customer that only spoke french. Turns out there is (according to wind sales) only ONE CSR that speaks french, and he works mon-friday. Too bad the call center didn't tell me that after an hour and a half on the phone constantly being transferred.

Very Frustrating.

At least this is a simple fix. Just need to hire another french speaking person and it's solved.

Update.
I never did get the number ported. I didn't want to deal with them anymore so I ended up just abandoning the number and starting over with a new one.

Something to think about if you're considering porting your number into Wind. If you ever want to port out again at some time in the future you'll have to deal with Wind's CS!

File a complaint with the CCTS.

To the best of my knowledge, Wind (or any other carrier) is not allowed to refuse a port. However, if there is anything wrong with the request (such as a missing initial) the request may be denied.

Laridae, I don't suppose that you've moved recently? Like to a different area code? If so then that could be the reason. I recall hearing once that numbers couldn't be ported to different area codes. I don't for certain if that's true or if it even applies in your case but thought I'd mention it.
