Hey all my brother ported his number to rogers to get an iphone last thurs, since he nolonger needs his BB Pearl 8130 I thought I could use it with my plan and replace my Rumour 1 (without a data plan for now), however when i try to change the ESN or have somone change it it still comes up as active (even though the number is no longer on Bell)... The bell website says something about "My Wireless Services" and to call the 800 number for *611...

I have been looking at the possibility of getting a new phone preferably a smartphone but with bell taking away the HUG credits that is no longer an option for me, so having this BB Pearl 8130 suddenly become somewhat available is a good thing (hey free smartphone pretty much) even though my brother didn't take good care of it as it's scratched to hell and seems to crash & reboot when using the still camera (mainly with zooming i think, at least that was what it was doing last night), not to mention all the dust that is under the screen...

my question is, how long does it take for the number port to go through bell's system and deactivate the phone so it is no longer in use?

I would really like to use this phone as I have already ordered a new battery for it and bought a protective skin for it...

30 days or until the end of the bill cycle.

tell your brother to call in and release the ESN of the phone so he can sell it. The CSR will just put a blank one or dummy one on his account. hope you enjoy the pearl
