It will help drive down the prices for all the other phone companies. Many people don't realize how this one apple product can and has changed the mobile landscape..

For one even IF Wind did get this phone ( I doubt they will) Apple sets the price of the phone not the provider so it will not drive prices down. Secondly, the iPhone 5 isn't bringing very much to the table when compared to the models already out. Improved camera, 0.2" bigger screen doesn't sound real ground breaking to me.
So do tell how this one apple is going to change the landscape? Because so far there are 4 phones already out that exceed the rumored specs of the iPhone 5, those are the Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Sensation, HTC Evo 3D & the LG 3D phone.
Here is a small list of what the iPhone 5 won't have:
flash support
micro sd (for added storage)
3D (not a deal breaker but when you only make one model, do it better than everything else)
4" or larger screen
Full customization by user
I don't think wind will get the iPhone 5 but it's sounding like T-Mobile in the U.S. will be getting it so there would at least be a model that supports wind mobiles 3G bands.

To be honest, it doesn't matter what the other models have more of.. What matters is what the masses want and that dictates the market forces. The average person doesn't really care about sd slots and other little things us forum members do. Onto of that.. The iPhone is the most popular smartphone in the world.
Also, I shouldve been more specific about my comment about driving prices down. I was refering to phone plans, the iPhone 5 would definitely drive down the phone plans of the big three in order to compete with wind if they were to provide iPhone 5.

Again you are wrong, The Big 3 are nationwide, Wind has small local "zones". So the Big 3 do not and will not price match small companies. Have fun with those roaming charges! Last I checked Apple OS had about half of the market share that Android OS has. iOS is for sheep who just want to be told what they can with their phones. The average person does want what I listed (aside from maybe 3D) why do you think Android OS is the most used OS, because the phones using Android have what users want.
*Note I am not bashing Apple, just stating what I know and how I see it. I am sure the apple experience is nice enough but for the most part apple is just a faze with marketing, really no different than the next big thing in children's toys*

Whether you like it or not, the iphone is the only device that has shaped alot of the decisions and changes to our mobile industry.
It is the one phone that can help sway masses to MOVE from one company to the other. Remember how many people joined FIDO and rogers when the iphone came out? They were the only network to provide that device for a whole year.
Second, MOST people want an iphone. Most people dont want a Galaxy S II. Its very simple.
Many, if not most, people have only stayed with the big three becuase of their iphone. If Mobilicity or WIND were to get these, and they are in your area.. why not spend less money on your phone bill every month?
And believe me, most people in cities dont travel to innisfil ontario for fun.
,, roaming is not much of an issue for big cities as these new entrants have and will continue to expland their areas.

Apple has not changed the mobile industry, try palm and blackberry well before apple ever did anything remotely decent with one phone release, since then they have done nothing but release the same looking phone with an update or two. The only thing Apple is marketing and lies, their phones are not better, the camera on it is weaker (software enhances the pic), processor is slower are just two right off the top of my head. Call quality is average at best. The iPhone 5 is rumored to have a dual core, dual core has been out for a while now, Android based phones are moving to Quad core very soon, could be around the time of the iPhone 5 release. People wanted the iPhone because it was "cool" to be seen with one, much the like the big days of the blackberry, iPhone is on the down slope, I know over 10 people that have the iPhone right now and have said they are going to blackberry or android based phone and not going back to iPhone, the gimmicks and over-pricing has left a lot of people sour. Time will tell but I think unless Apple really blows everyone away with this phone their day at the top is coming to a close.

First off, the iPhone did change the industry. It pushed all other competitors to try and copy it over and over. Palm may have been the first touch screen device, but it didn't have the features that blew people away when iPhone was first announced. For one, the browser actually let you view Internet the way you would on your computer. It was the first phone to use that "pinch and zoom" on photos and maps! It even rotated when you moved your phone in landscape mode. These feature which are so obvious in phones today were unbelievably attractive in 2007 when nobody saw this a phone, let alone a device.
Then you always heard about a company coming out with an "iPhone killer" .. Yet the iPhone still lives.
Also, you know 10 peopl that the iPhone, but there are millions of others that love it. I still haven't seen anyone with an android device on the streets,,, but I do see iphones everywhere,
However, I must add that I know one guy who bought into the hype of android being open sourced and he ended up hating his phone so much that he ran it over on purpose lol
I like android devices too,,, and their phones... But I have to also acknowledge how far apple has gone with this ONE phone.
Peoples hatred for apple on these forums clouds their judgement about how much of an impact they have had on the whole mobile industry.
I don't even have to go into customer satisfaction either. Just search and you'll see that apply iPhone users are the most satisfied with their product compared to android and bb users,

I've gotta go with Turnpike on this one.
I don't like Apple personally, but I recognize that there are millions of die-hard fans that do. If Wind could get a bunch of new subs by offering iPhone 5's then that would be good for the long-term survival of the company and good for competition in the industry.
I don't know why people have so much trouble with this. You don't have to like Apples to recognize that many other people do and it's good for all of us!

I have not said it wouldn't be good IF Wind or any other small market company got this phone, I am saying it probably won't happen. Those small markets carry low end to low medium phones. Despite the lack of features on the iPhone it still sells but it sells for a reason and that is marketing just like everything else that is popular. iOS is not bad, it is just very limited and I find it very hard to believe that you have never seen anyone with an Android phone, Android OS has 40% of the market share as an OS not brand specific. If there was only one Android phone it would blow the Apple phone out of the water but Android has many different makes and models.
