Sony Ericsson announces the Arc S

Wondering why Sony is releasing this now and not few months ago, since every manufacturer is producing dualcore phones by now. The specs for this phone probably wont justify the $500+ price. This is a slight upgrade of the Arc phone that was released in April, which kind of sux for people that did pick it up few months ago.

you can blame the earthquake, etc at japan a few months ago
i do believe that sony will have better devices coming out soon
it will just get better and better and support of their devices are getting improved too (ie. x10 getting gingerbread)

but think about it
i still think the arc was a device to come to test the water
and now they actually have a even more improved product after consumers yelled at them on what needs to be improved

zmaaph you brought up some valid points regarding sony , however their phone that tested the water was the x10 not the arc. I say this because i own the x10 and have used the arc for more than a week. They basicly changed all the x10 faults in the arc. Only thing I dont like is that they still charge $500-550 for the arc which is not competative at all. Im pretty sure the arc s will be even more money while not giving an arc user any improvements that are justified by the high price. Sony is improving their support for their devices since the x10 fiasco , where they were gonna leave it at android 2.1 and after lot of ppl screamed and shouted on their forums , that they ported the arc's gingerbread on to the x10.

This just came up about yet unreleased sony product thats supposed to be their flagship, but again it wont be released till march/april which means they are again late to the party.

yeah i think it would made a lot more sense to have released this a few months ago. Releasing a single core phone with the same price points as dual core phones isn't really a great idea and they most likely lost out on some sales.

Meh, a lot of the new Windows phones coming out pack the same processor. Nothing too out dated and late.

First look at the Arc S, looks exactly the same as the regular arc, wonder when they gonna reveal their flagship device and not these minor refreshes.

Im an X10 user with 2.3.3 and i love the my phone more then ever, im a huge SE fan. I personally think they make solid hardware..they just have to update the internals to compete. I keep hearing rumours about a SE phone with a 1.5 dualcore and 1.5 gigs of ram but i want them to make it real because i would love to have another SE phone especially now where there better with updates.
