Hello folks,
I have got the S2 from Virgin for a couple of days now.
My impression from its battery life is not satisfactory.
The first day it just last 8 hours, I used it quite extensively downloading 10 or more Apps on WiFi. The next day it last about 16 hours with moderate use.
I have heard that the beast is a power-sucker, but the reviews on web report a 20 hour or more battery life with moderate usage.
I am wondering how is your impressions on its battery life. Do you think mine is sucking oddly?! maybe a manufacturing problem or so?!
any thoughts? thank you

I have the same phone and yes..same thing. In fact, I would be lucky to make 8 hours with moderate use. Apparently the new 2.3.4 addresses this issue but I called Virgin to see when they expect a release date for it, and they had no idea.

The power consumption is very high on this device.

If anybody use Extended Battery Power Pack Case?
Where can I buy it in Canada?

I don't know why users don't use the Juice Defender app, it works! I only have the freebie version and get and increase of 20% battery life. I bet the paid versions helps save even more juice.

I'm inside most of the time so I just have the brightness on its lowest point and so far it lasts me one day and a bit. I can't wait to update to 2.3.4.

Here is an awesome replacement for the stock battery with barely noticable difference in the overall shape of phone, its a 2000 mah battery .

Not sure if this will help any of you guys, but I notice that my battery improves incredibly if I turn wifi off if i'm not using it. If you leave it off when you're out of wifi range it will keep searching for signals.

Very good point. Thanks.

Try turning off WiFi, 3g(stay on 2g),and keep Bluetooth and GPS off. Disable Sync. Auto brightness off can save some juice too. Basically keep all the radios off unless you need em. Do you have push notifications on? Live wallpapers?

That simple.

Anyone can kill a battery quickly, it takes skill to stretch it out ;)

On XDA they've posted some of the new firmwares which improve battery life somewhat. I've noticed a slight improvement from UGKG2 to XXKH3 but not as dramatic as I would have liked. It might have something to do with it being an unlocked model running on Rogers but who knows.

I would have taken a slightly thicker SGS2 to have better battery.. This phone is so thin they could have added more space for battery.

I know people who hve gone three days without charging. Important things to note: Dont turn everything on. Make sure apps re actually closed. Install Juice Defender or similr battery sving features. Games eat bttery. So do phone calls. Modern smartphones go a day or two, not more. They just do too many things nd a lot of them in the background. Remember, dont completely drain your battery all the time.
