hey guys,
im debating whether i should go to virgin and get the incredible s, or stay with koodo and upgrade to a nexus s!

i prefer the incredible, but i'd much rather stay with koodo.
no long distance charges, unltd fam calling, and cheaper plan.
also, if i go with virgin's $40 plan, i'm not sure whether or not 100mb will be enough.

the downside to the nexus s is no digital zoom, no 720p, no micro sd and i much prefer sense over stock. also, i'm looking at a $35 plan with koodo, and that'll take close to 4years to pay off!

the incredible s looks like a great phone, but i heard virgin mobile isn't so great, + koodo is getting better and better every day..

help would be greatly appreciated!

Smartphones come and go, and become totally obsolete in just a few months these days. I would suggest to keep an account with the company (and network) that you feel most comfortable with.

I'd suggest you simplify your decision by separating it in two; choose the phone you want, and independent of that choose the carrier you like. It's easy to unlock phones nowadays so you should be able to "unlink" one from the other.

Also, you didn't ask this, but I'd strongly recommend you not sign a 3 year contract; you're better off buying the phone outright and financing it yourself. At least that way you know where you stand with your loan; otherwise it's all rolled into one monthly fee and you can't separate it.

Also, top phones are very expensive, $500 to 700 - you should experience the full impact of that and not isolate yourself from it; I'm sure you've heard the news; we're headed for troubled times!

$40 plan on Virgin will take far longer than 4 years to pay off. If you know you're the type of person who is happy to keep the same phone for 2-3 years, you're definitely better off on a 3-year contract (or buy it at full price obviously).

Why have you limited yourself to the Incredible S? Not that it is a bad phone, but I'd personally wait for the first decent sale/price drop on the GS2 (or even Sensation). Why spend hundreds of dollars (or sign a contract) without getting the best you can out of it? The GS2 will likely get some sort of promo sale this summer, at least based on previous deals.

Nexus S WAS a great phone, but its best days have passed.

I've had the IS with Virgin since April and so far so good. Customer service has been great and the phone itself is absolutely fantastic. The 10 unlimited nationwide numbers, included in the 55$/month plan, pretty much solve the long distance problem, at least for me.

Good luck!

guess i'll hold out till the desire s arrives :) (hopefully to telus/koodo)
