Hey I didn't see a thread on what people got from retentions so I thought I would start a thread where people could post what kind of deal they got from retentions.

My contract ends in a few days and they currently offered me this:

200 min (day time)
Unlim eve + weekend from 6pm
Unlim texting + international texting
Unlim talk and text with 10 people
CID + VM
1gb Data

Total: $45 + HST

What do you guys think?

Sounds like pretty standard stuff when compared with the big 3. I have never used virgin mobile so I can't say how this compares with their current offering of plans.

I have that exact plan, without the CID & VM and it cost me 55$/month.

So i'd say that is a pretty good deal.

I was also offered another plan.

$35 for unlimited local calling

$30 for 6gb data

10% off data

And an additional $5 off.

I am still mulling on which one to go with.

I wish there was a way to share data between two smartphones. I wanna get the GS2 but I do not wanna leave my bbm friends on my BB :(

You'll be happy to know that I did make a recommendation for a data sharing plan between phones (kinda like a family plan for data) before I left Virgin.

I would not doubt if Virgin was in the process of launching something like this in the future. Keep in mind though, it comes down to what the competition is doing as well.

That looks like a great plan from Virgin, I too have the same plan for $50, but its on month to month. You could maybe hum and haw and get them to take another $5 off per month to get you to sign. Or maybe pay $55, but with 6 GB of data. The 10 buddies is really useful because its like essentially having free long distance for a gf/bf and family. I couldn't live without the buddies.

I have a question as well for anyone on here who knows:

Under what conditions is a rep allowed to give someone a discount? I would like to get another $5-10 off my bill per month, but I am not sure how to go about doing it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

How long ago did you resign ?
How much do you spend a month ?
How long have you been with them ?
The biggest factor seems to be what you spend a month... If you only spend $40 a month... They are not going to give you 10 off

Well I have always been month to month for about 3 years. And I am spending $50 a month right now.

I was just wondering if anyone knew any actual specific reasons that they will give credits, for example quoting a competitors plan.

If you re month to month instead of being in n actual contrct, they aren't going to give you ****. If it's supertb month to month, perhaps. Though I'd likely try and rgue for higher percentage, e.g. 15/20 instead of 10% on phone pyment rther than reduced plan costs.

Ya I kind of figured that, I just am really against cell phone contracts.
